Whatever grandma was cooking that night or Spaghettios. Though my dad made an awesome stew. That and good pot popped pop corn are the only things he ever cooked.

Wait, you’re saying a steak with a side of fries is trashy?

Are you saying you dip the steak in ketchup? If not, I’m failing to see the trashiness.

It’s tuna salad mixed with macaroni.

I don’t care if it’s trashy, it’s delicious and I still make it. But I’ll add Dijon for tang.

My mom made something that I've modified and just call it Slop.

It's a mixture of rice, ground meat (I use chicken, Mom used beef), mushrooms and cream of mushroom soup. It's so good I'll make a double batch and eat it for days when the wife is out of town.

I also like easy imitation shepherd's pie. Put down a layer of finished instant potatoes, then a layer of ground meat and mushrooms and cover in cheddar cheese. Pop in the oven for a few minutes to melt the cheese.

Oh I forgot, my mom used to make this Doritos casserole.

It was Doritos, chili, enchilada sauce, onions, and cheese layered and baked.

It was one of my favorites growing up.

That and chicken and rice which was chicken, rice, cream of mushroom, onions, cheese, and topped with crispy onions.

My mom used to make tuna noodle casserole on the reg. Tuna, cream of mushroom soup, noodles, topped with Durkee's fried onions and baked. Might of had sour cream in it as well. I forget.

I made it as adult for nostalgia once and almost puked.

Bologna sandwiches
That container pulled BBQ pork on whatever bread we had
Sloppy Joes
Pickled sausage either on a hotdog bun or we'd just sit together and eat them out the jar

But he also enjoyed grilling so if mom wasn't home, it was either ribs or steak covered in worchestire sauce and Tony's. I don't think he ever made sides, maybe frozen fries.

Bolgona sandwiches was probably 75% of it though. He was/is a Jena roughneck, so he definitely wasn't a chef. My mom was too good of a cook for him to worry about learning.

I don't think I ever saw my dad cook in the kitchen. If dad was cooking, it was on a grill or smoker.

I remember a couple times when he'd grill some chicken and heat up canned corn or green beans. But not in the kitchen...had to be on the grill.

Mine only knew two things, a ribeye or shite on a shingle. Basically it was toast with a can of chicken ala king on top. Old navy guy.

Yeah my dad was always grilling. He taught me how to grill from a very young age.

He also makes the best damn roast and gravy I’ve ever had still to this day. In the same old Dutch oven he’s had longer than I’ve been alive.

I feel like I gotta represent for the awesome Cajun daddies who can cook. My friends always loved to visit, as he would routinely wake us up and ask "what do you want for breakfast?" You could say, french toast, a cheese omelet, and fried ham, and he would happily go off and make it. Bless his heart, he's too elderly to cook much anymore, but he still likes to eat.
