What makes mayonnaise such a polarizing condiment?

Love it or hate it kind of thing. You’ll rarely hear someone say that they are impartial about it.

Like the word moist, it became popular to hate for whatever reason. Mayo is delicious.

I’m impartial.
I like it fine and use it but can do without.

I think some of the people that hate it don't know how it's made. It's really

Personally, I love it. I don't hate mustard but I do think it can overpower a some sandwiches so I usually dont get it. Love it on hot dogs obviously.

Me too on certain things. It's such a versatile condiment that so many other things are made from like buffalo sauce, ranch dressing etc.

Blue Plate or nothing and very very little of it. Prefer spicy mustard as my #1 condiment.

I’m impartial about it to the extent that I like it okay on some things (hamburgers and shrimp poboys mainly - provided they don’t overdo it) but not many others.

I challenge you to name one food or ingredient that doesn't immediately become polarizing here.

Couldn't stand mayo as a kid. My mom put miracle whip on everything growing up and I thought that was amazing.

As an adult I haven't had miracle whip in over 40 years and the one time I tasted it I gagged.

Now I love Mayo. Helmans and blue plate are the jam

I love mayo on almost everything, but if it’s left out to get warm I’ll pass. I once called in an order for a chicken salad poboy from Zara’s on Prytania and they must have mixed it up with another “hot” poboy because when I got there it had been under the heat lamp baking. Nope.
Also, mayo (or cream cheese or sour cream) should not be anywhere near sushi rolls. Sorry, not sorry.
