Cracker Barrel loans out audiobooks for free (with deposit). Perfect for road trips, though less cool now that there are things like Audible and whatnot.

Breakfast. Best biscuits anywhere. Best pancakes anywhere. Hashbrown casserole is awesome.
My go to is 2 country ham biscuits and a side of hashbrowns, with a tall glass of OJ - though occasionally I get bittermilk pancakes with blueberry syrup. Also buy that syrup for home use.

Haven't been there in a couple of years, but when I did go (on road trips) I'd get a sampler with portions of chicken & dumplings, meatloaf, and ham

Haven't been in ages, but I enjoyed the egg in a hole with grits and bacon. It was always just fine. I don't care for the hash brown casserole.

An important dining rule is, never eat at a restaurant that has farm implements as decor, unless you are wearing bib overalls, then never at at a restaurant that doesn't have farm implements as decor.

BTW, the CB biscuits are terrible, Whataburger's are incredible.

My wife and I and the kids always eat at cracker barrell on long car trips involving hotel stay. My go to is always the same. Meatloaf, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, hash brown casserole, whole kernel corn. Never eat there unless on the road.

I love the taste of the whole hog sausage patties. To me, the taste is just like a sausage I grew up eating, Strohe's sausage from Welsh, LA.
