I expect that response from many but was looking for reasons as to why you feel that way. Care to explain with something slightly more enlightened?

Sirloin is the least favorable by far. IMO it's not even in the same state. Filet has so much flavor and meat compared to a sirloin and taste 10x better.

If you can't feel any love from a rare filet accompanied by a wild mushroom saute and a fine Napa Cab, you might as well pull the plug.

But a strip or ribeye doesn't need the wild mushroom sauté. That's all I'm saying. I'll eat one and enjoy it, but it just doesn't have the flavor I crave with beef.

No need to pull the plug. I simply prefer just about every other cut.

ETA: I deem this thread a success in discussion.

Neither does a good filet. I rarely put anything on them.

I'll take a prime NY strip over a filet any day.

Anyone who can not tell that a filet is better is a communist. There, I said it.

I concur, however your OP had undertones of not finding joy in indulging in a filet.

Oh, those first world hardships.

And this is where the trouble started. I hate him for it.

Damn straight. I spent my whole life in poverty eating bread and butter sammiches. Now, I'm gonna enjoy some filet before I become compost.

I personally prefer filet. Always a clean cut of meat, tender, and without fat. But I don't eat steak very often and only at good steakhouses. I totally understand why many prefer a ribeye or strip.

Should I exile myself from the F&DB for this?

I should start a thread on cooking for poor people. Good food on a budget. Starting with not filet's or $75 tenderloins

I can eat the whole thing and don't have to chew on strips of fat.

i ate filets as a kid, but as an adult ive grown to love some fat on steaks.

do people not eat the fat? it has the most flavor. Even the gristle-y parts i'll chew on because of the enormous amounts of flavor. Maybe its just me.

Zach try cooking a chateau briand, you will want to kill some people for not having one before in your life, and Lucie will be happy too.
