I used to love these by Brach's. I remember Winn-Dixie had a station set up for brach's candy. You could put a nickel in the box and pick a piece of candy out. These were my go-to most of the time.
I don't think they make them anymore

Where were you that you never got a circus peanut?
Also, how do you know what a circus peanut is? When did you get them, if not for halloween?

I’ve never gotten a circus peanut trick or treating, but they sell them (along with orange slices, etc) in the generic candy section. Like in those clear bags with the cardboard label.

Candy corn...basically sugar flavored wax

That's how I always viewed the taste and texture of that crap.
Another that was popular when I was a kid was little vials made of wax with a colorful liquid inside it that was nothing but sugar water with dye. Once the flavor of the liquid was gone, the wax container had NO taste whatsoever.
On a side note, who else remembers candy cigarettes that came in packaging shaped like cigarette packs?

Yes. Discussed this last night. Some lady was giving some out yesterday but she would dip the tip in something to make it look lit. I said back in the day they sold it like that already.

They call those peanut butter kisses. Nasty. Used to be made by NECCO. Also made Mary Janes on the same production line. Another disgusting candy
I disagree with this. Love them

Yep. They have a little red dye on one end to look like you were smoking them. Really surprised they are selling them in today's PC/easily offended world.

I'm so glad they didnt have "fun size" candy when I was a kid. How is that fun?

Fun size would be a snickers the size of a loaf of bread.
BTW, I loved licorice, I got all I wanted, Pernod is a favorite of mine too.
All hard candy was trash to me.

I'll be dating myself with this, but when I was a kid a bottle of soda was $.10 and candy bars and chips were a nickel with small stuff like pieces of bubble-gum and loose candy being a penny.
I remember going to the Arabi Theater on St. Claude Ave. and Angela St. with $1.00 and getting in for a quarter and having the rest to spend at the concession stand. That was a soda, popcorn and a bar of candy to have to watch the show.
