I posted a picture on the Rant and someone asked why the people had two toasters. It got me to thinking.

The only toaster I have ever owned is OLD. I bought it right out of college and have carried it everywhere I have lived. I used it this last weekend and will probably use it again today for my bachelor's secret grilled cheese sandwiches.

It is just a two slice toaster with a slide bar knob for the brownness and the push handle to lower the bread. It works just fine (knock on wood).

The next oldest is a 1.5 quart slow cooker that I bought when I lived in Dallas. It's probably at least 20 years old and probably older. It cooks great but the crock does not separate from the cooker so it is a pain to clean. I have a 3-in-1 now that has a 2, 4 and 6 quart crocks that I use but I do break out the old one when I need two cooking or warming at the same time.

what you got?

Hmmm... probably my old as frick toaster.

We have an old stand mixer that belonged to my wife's grandmother (or maybe great grandmother) but never use it because we already had a kitchenaid stand mixed.

I've got one of those hand held electric 2 beater appliances that are used to beat cake mixes, mashed potatoes, etc.

That thing has to be at least 50 years old and still works like a charm. Even the electric cord is still good with no breaks or cracks in the thing.

Classic Oster blender. I’ve had it for 25 years. Many a Margarita has come out of it!

My wife

Ha, Good one.

I was at a friend of mine's place not too long ago. His wife was looking for something and he told her it was on the counter under the microwave in the kitchen. She looked at him like he was an idiot or just out-and-out lying to her.

When she left I asked if he was kidding with her. He looked at me and said that what she is looking for is where he said, she just doesn't know where the kitchen is. I laughed but realized that he was either mad at her about something else or he was serious about the kitchen.

I have an espresso/cappuccino machine that is 25 years old. And I have a 1940's/50's era Kenmore oven in my office (I own apartments and have my office in an apt).

I may have the same thing. A white base, metal removable bowl with the measurements on the inside and a glass cover with a hole in it. I even have the instruction booklet and it has an oriental guy's picture on it. I use mine all the time. But not by the instructions - I cook sticky rice.

Hand-me-down electric oscillating carving knife from my parents' wedding in 1970.

Never changed the blades nor done much maintenance on them, and the thing still makes you feel like you're cutting Thanksgiving turkey with a lightsaber.

An Oster blender that was a wedding present to my parents. Married in 1958. 2 speeds, heavy chrome base, glass canister. Still works great and like previously mentioned, plenty of margaritas and daiquiris have poured out of it.

A food processor that belonged to my grandparents. Not sure how old it is, but is has no safety locks on it and the blade could easily take off a finger, if you aren't careful. Nowadays, food processors have to be closed in order to be turned on. Shiiiiiit. Not this thing. It's every man for himself, but it chops veggies in like two seconds.

My dad still has one from Rival from the 70's as well. They're made to last.

Rival crock pot from that 70's era, it has been in the garage for years, I'm not crazy about crock pot dinners. I have a KitchenAid mixer from 1987, that thing has made thousand of loaves of bread.

A pair of black hands, although I of course don’t own them but they have been cooking for me almost 50 years.

I was in an office recently that had one of these. LRK in BR, I dont think it has apartments but that's an unusual thing to have in an office, twice.

I have a 50's Chambers stove and it is pretty badass. Cooks with the gas off, stovetop broiler and well.
