Went to Lager's this past weekend and was really underwhelmed
Not to mention their prices are just absurd
12 oz Unibroue bottles were 13 dollars
frick that place and anyone who likes it

ave pub, its one of the best beer bars in the region, let alone the city.

Avenue Pub
Yeah just a cursory glance at the menu tells me it's 10 times better than Lager's
For comparison they sell the 12 oz Maudite for 6.50 or exactly half price of Lager's

Avenue Pub is the easy choice. It is one of the beer bars in the whole southeast.
The owner is a crazy woman, but she is extremely passionate about beer and is able to bring stuff in that probably shouldn't distributed in the state.
Go there during that big tasting at the end of craft beer week.

I'm happy to have Lages in Metairie, but they have gotten extremly lazy in the past few years.
I had heard one of the owners decided he wanted to make alot more money, so they started raising prices like crazy.
One bartender at the Bulldog on canal said they basically had chased away most of her regulars because of raising prices.

I'm late to the party, but Avenue Pub by a mile. One of the best beer bars in the country, limited only by LA beer selection.

I feel like I should hire some goons to beat everyone around here to a bloody pulp since this is the first I hear of this place on the food and drink board
Better late than never I guess. Thanks for the suggestions.

Yeah only bad thing I can say about Avenue Pub is that bitch owner. It's a great bar.

Man, you need to read more of the beer threads then.

The little bit of food that they serve is pretty damn good too. No frozen sysco crap coming out of that shithole of a kitchen.

I'd probably be a bit of a bitch too if I had to deal with packs of beer nerds on a regular basis.

Ummm.. it's discussed quite often, brah. I can't believe you've never heard of it. Don't you live in Nola?

I guess it's my own fault since I never read those beer threads
There are like 1000 bars in New Orleans. And I don't live uptown because I'm black.

The answer here is a no brainer.
I don't claim to know her, but I've had brief conservations with her before and she never came off as having an attitude problem.
I think the question should be what is the 2nd best beer bar in the Nola metro area?
Bulldog, Cooters, or DBA?

Not uptown, but I get what you're saying I guess.
Report back after you go. It really is a great fricking bar.

Cooters > Bulldog
not sure about DBA's beer selection

I feel the same way.
Although on the Stone/NOLA release day she sought me out to make sure I had balcony wristbands because I hadn't been in line for one earlier. That was pretty cool of her.
