The chateau thivin cote de brouilly is gamay as well and 2010 was a great year for France on a whole.

As far as vending machine, Neil and Monica get some say in the process of blending their wines. Everyone has to start somewhere, and this is a good jumping off point without a massive investment. They actually work for a boutique distributor, who is responsible for the distribution of Modus operandi, Robert foley, scarecrow, Schrader, beau vigne, herb lamb, Caldwell, favia, and numerous others.

Favorite patio-type wine this summer is Conundrum. Can get it locally for just over $15. Pairs well with fish/ shellfish.

Mangria
I clicked the link and it's available here in Louisiana. Looks like Matherne's picked it up. I'm going ride by and pick some up.

Had a 2010 clos la coutale from Cahors in France. It is a Malbec in base (80%) with a touch of merlot. Still the same ripe fruit profile you are accustomed to but a sense of terroir that is definitely french and it was around $15. Really a treat for a different take on that grape. It is one of the few regions of France still planted heavily to the grape after most of the plantings were destroyed in 1956 due to frost damage and they were never planted as much again (especially I'm Bordeaux).

got a bottle of Belle Glos Meiomi Pinot Noir 2012 from O Brah that is pretty good. lots of fruit going on, almost cab like but not as powerful, with a slight oak undertone. would buy.

I just bought a case each of the Belle Glos Dairyman Vineyard (brand new from them from Russian River Valley) and the Las Alturas. The Meiomi is good but doesn't hold a thing to these two wines. Both were 2011 vintage. Also picked up the new Conundrum Red for by the glass which was surprisingly good and very intriguing (the grape blend isn't stated but I believe there is some combination of Cinsault, Carignane, Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Zinfandrl for sure). Ripe fruit flavors with nice acid, soft tannins, and tons of ripe fruit flavors.

Same Here! This stuff is delicious! Actually, as of today you can find Mangria at Matherne's Supermarket. They are the only store in the South that has it. Check out their Facebook Fan page.

The review from Esquire on Mangria states the wine has grape distillates added to bring it up to 20% alcohol and tastes like the sweet sticky red punch you see children drinking copious amount of at birthday parties. Ill stick with my standard red wine and look for a zin like Selby's bobcat at almost 17% alcohol if I want something that strong.
