I know the king cakes are clearly the best in town. I was turned on to them for the first time this year. Very impressed. I tried some of their meat pies and bahn mi which are great too. What else should I get there? Is the restaurant attached worth a special trip out there?

IMO, no. Their pho and vermicelli are good, but you can find better in the city.

The king cakes suck.
Unless you like them tasting like butter.
Arguably the most over-rated food item in the New Orleans area.

You may have had it already, but the French cold cuts banh mi is great.

I don't think they are the best king cake, but this post is a load of crap.

The stuffed bao, the coconut banh mi.bread makes great french toast. Load up on the regular bread, ask if they have croissants.
The banh mi on the back is the most varied and cheapest in town.
I like to grab a few odd things and take them home to try. Some of it I really didn't like.
Another great place to buy a lot of Asians foods at is Hong Kong market on Berman. They have a better fish and seafood selection than any grocery store, ditto for veggies and fruits (fresh whole jack fruit and frozen whole durian is available). A whole aisle of tea, an aisle of Asian sweets and another of snacks. Large freezer section and duck heads.
Also Balut is available at the register for $1 an egg. Enjoy.

If I did not know better and moved to this area and heard the name Dong Phong for the first time, I would swear that it was an asian adult sex shop, just saying.

And it fills me with almost as much lust and satisfaction. Steamed pork buns (char sui bao) , pate chaud, banh mi selection(roast pork & pate my fave), banh xeo, banh pate, almond rolls, fresh phaps, meat pies, holy crap I can load up for a week for 3 people and spend 60 bucks and throw stuff away.

Cinnamon rolls, pate chaud (pork in puff pastry), meat pies, esp the pork and jicama ones, and a big bagful of banh mi. I’m the fool eating one in the parking lot.
