but for the rest of the f&d board .. shame on you for not topping that steak with lump crab meat braised in a cabernet sauvignon sauce blackened with a fresh homemade cajun garlic butter infused baked potato along with fresh seagrass, imported italian olives, and freshly grated 107-year old belgian colony cheese on your salad !

Are you mad? I mean, what does myself and my brother cooking something different for our mother constitute you ragging on me for stepping it up I guess? Is it that you think my mom's not worth it? Or perhaps I'm on the wrong board?
There's nothing in what we're preparing that you can't do too if you wanted to. But who does that, especially on a food board? Who goes after someone because they are trying to cook high quality food? I thought foodies were supposed to appreciate food and pushing the boundaries? And I mean hell, we aren't even really pushing the boundaries here. This isn't new, and it's done all over in places like Italy in momma's kitchen.
I'm sorry. I don't know what I should say here, but I do find it strange that we're on a food board, and it seems you're mad because we're cooking food.

I always love it when the ones that are mad type three paragraphs and then ask the other if they're mad ..
and isn't it about time for your lemon zest shaved Alaskan king crab quiche to come out of the oven, barefoot contessa ?

Next Mother's Day it's cheeseburgers and tacos for mom. I learned my lesson.
BTW Rag, are you the guy that gets pissed off when your neighbor fixes up his yard?

Well, you spent time with mom, so when you get down to the real priorities of life LL, that's clearly the most important thing. Food's just bonus.

I enjoy cooking and eating out. Cooking is a stress reliever for me. Reading about cooking and restaurants is a hobby.
I like to cook a variety of things from roast and rice and gravy, fried pork chops and gumbo to crabmeat and spinach timbales with a buerre blanc sauce, roasted asparagus with lemon zest and parm cheese, brown butter sauteed mushrooms with flash fried spinach etc...
People who enjoy cooking, food and restaurants read and post on food forums. Some enjoy meals more on the homecooked comfort food side. Some enjoy more gourmet meals and some enjoy both.
People who want to learn more about cooking and food read and post on food forums. Some of them branch out beyond basic "supper" foods, not that there's anything wrong with basic meals.
Is there something about that which is complicated or suspect to you? I really don't get your point since this is a food forum.
