You pay them and you cook your own food. Does that make sense to you?

MP has to be the worst restaurant on St. Charles. Many moons ago, I was tricked into going, spent over $200 for me +1. I've never felt more taken advantage of in my life. I think we tried everything, and don't remember enjoying one single item.

Don't get suckered into the variety package they sell. It's $$$ and shite. I would try to narrow it down to 1-2 things yall may not find objectionable and order it.

Ordering at the Melting Pot is the exact opposite of what I would do at a good restaurant.

ETA: I'm not bothered by the fact of cooking your own food. If it was good, I would gladly cook and pay $$. It is skewering bad product and throwing it in a tub of boiling water wine.

I know, it sounds like a place you would find on Vets.
So many good places in NOLA. I would rather try something new, or go to Muriel's or something.

Usually when your expecting a $100+ meal you are amped up and expecting greatness, my expectations are pretty low.

Hey everyone has their own benchmarks right? I think I've gotten sick twice eating out that I can remember: Carmine's in Bucktown (early 90s, I was probably 6) and Lonestar Steakhouse in Kennahbrah (late 90s, probably about 13). 50+ times I've eaten at the taco truck across the street from my apartment in Houston = 0 sick.

Never been. Know it is Fondue. I heard mixed reviews,

if you like guessing how well done you want your little steak balls prepared in boiling water..enjoying eating your meal one...steak ball...at a time...while the next one...is boiling....and paying $100 for that priviledge..be my guest

the best part is you can add 'Cajun essence' to your boiling water for another $8 or so..LMAO

i'd rather go to ruths or Flemings where someone who knows what the hell they're doing is professionally preparing my juicy steak to my specifications.

melting pot..

The best way I can describe it is that it's the kind of place that 17 year old girls like to go to before prom because it makes them feel grown-up.

I will stick up for the desserts though. If she really wants to go the MP see if she'll eat somewhere else and do it for the desserts only.

the only correct answer in this thread.

this might satisfy the OP's SO.

ps I have never left MP without being FAMISHED. I honestly think its because it takes forever to finish your meal and the portions are tiny..you just feel like you need to eat a sammich after leaving or something

Mr. John's was my suggestion, much better food for the same or a little more. Besh Steak would have been good too. IDK.

Anything good on the menu?

New suggestions. Leave this thread open for your SO to peruse while you are away. When she confronts you, tell her you were doing research on the place. Then let her change her mind based on market research(TD).

It wasn't that bad. I was expecting much worse.

But it was $100 a couple, and we had to cook out own food.

You get four courses, first is the cheese, then a salad then the broth and meats then chocolate dip.

It was neither the worst nor the best $100 dinner date I've had in the city.

I had a better time there than Serendipity. It was different not something you do all the time but not that bad.
