We are going peach picking tomorrow, and I want to make something delicious with our haul.

I've never cooked with peaches before, and I know I could probably just Google a recipe for cobbler or something, but I wanted to pick y'all's brains to see if anyone had any more creative ideas.

My bad, I definitely did not search

Peaches and pork sounds fantastic...I like savory foods better than desserts so this sounds right up my alley.

Peach cobbler and it is so easy to make.

This is my recipe if you're interested.

I use 6 fair sized ripe peaches to make this and will cut them in 8 wedges while still whole with the pit. Pull the wedges off and remove the skin and toss the finished wedges in a bowl.

Once the peaches are peeled take a 9 x 13 baking pan and smear it with some butter to oil it and lay the peach wedges on their side in the pan covering the entire bottom.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 cups white sugar divided---1/2 cup and 1 cup
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup melted butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup milk

Combine 1/2 cup sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, butter, vanilla and milk. Stir until smooth and pour over the peaches.

Now combine 1 cup sugar and 1/4 cup water, mix until sugar is a slurry and pour over the batter.

Bake in a pre-heated oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

This is one of my wife's favorite sweet treats.

As you can see, we like peaches. I had a pie, but don't see it at the moment

Where do you pick peaches now? I thought they were like a June crop in the south?

Is that the one done with rolled oats? Man I used to work with a lady that would make this and serve it warm with a scoop of ice cream. So amazing.

Yes. It is a cobbler with oats, sugar and butter to make the crumbly crust. You can add almond slithers, and/or cinnamon, nutmeg if you want those things. Lots of different recipes for the crust, but for this crust, the butter, sugar and oatmeal are always there.

We live in Boston, so we picked at a farm in New Hampshire. It's still peach season up here! We got some beauties.

Smoked Peach Old Fashioned

quote:

Ingredients:
1 sugar cube
3 dashes peach bitters
1 tsp. water
2 oz. (60 ml) rye
1 grilled peach wedge (see note)

Directions:
In a double old-fashioned glass, combine the sugar cube, bitters and water. Using a muddler, crush the sugar cube until it is dissolved. Add the rye and 1 large ice cube to the glass and stir until well chilled. Garnish with the peach wedge.

Using a Crafthouse Cocktail Smoking Box according to the manufacturer’s instructions, smoke the cocktail using cedar chips until the desired amount of smokiness is achieved. Serve immediately. Makes 1 drink.

Went to Knife steakhouse in Dallas last night and they had a peach creme brûlée that was extremely peachy. Never made it but was awesome so worth an experiment potentially
