Was going to do steaks and sides but was overruled in a brutal vote. Instead:

Couple racks of lamb
port wine demi glace
roasted radishes and fennel in a brown butter sauce
creamed spinach
sage potatoes au gratin

Our big meal this year was Thanksgiving with both of the sons and their families in attendance. Really noisy and good.

Our Christmas plans are pretty simple (and quiet).

Baked ham
Potato salad
Green (English) peas
Homemade yeast rolls
Pecan Tassies

Probably a glass of port, later

Cooked for and served to just the wife (MHNBPF) and me.

The basics. Turkey and a turkey breast, Honey Baked ham.

I was getting a country ham from Cracker Barrel, but you have to do it online. I didn’t mind paying $110 for a 10 pound ham, but they also wanted over $40 for shipping. No way was I paying $150 for a ham.

A Honey Baked was $80, and I guess I should say I resigned myself to paying $110 for a Cracker Barrel country ham because I really, really wanted one.

But the extra $40 for shipping put it over the edge.

Thanksgiving is our all out. Christmas day we traditionally just eat a gumbo and salad.

The wife loves spiral sliced ham for Christmas, so it's that and either some baked mac& cheese with a brown gravy or some sweet potatoes and I'm thinking I'll grill some Brussel sprouts to go with it.

I’m making a deer roast (with some heart as well) and serving it over a parsnip and carrot mash

Will probably sauté a bunch of kale and spinach too, since it’s coming in really well right now
