I eat there at least once a week. It's a toss up between the shrimp and the sausage every time I walk through the door.
So damn good.
So damn good.

I had it a few years ago and unless they made some changes, it wasn't the case with me. I was actually a little underwhelmed by it. I can find quite a few places in Baton Rouge with just as good or better poboys and I can find tons of places in New Orleans with better shrimp poboys.
Just my opinion though.

Hard to beat an Old Tyme shrimp poboy. All of their seafood poboys are excellent & better or as good as any other seafood poboy in Louisiana. Never tried their meatball poboy but heard it's really good. I have had their corned beef & pastrami but outside of the bread, I didn't find the sandwich that great, the deli meat seemed really "processed" & not anything special, really really salty in fact. Oh well, give me a shrimp or oyster poboy from Old Tyme ANYDAY!

The fish market by my house supplies them with oysters he brings them the same day the Asian women shuck them, so the oysters are fresh for sure.

I grew up in New Orleans and can't think of a better shrimp Poboy than Old Tyme's. I used to stop there every time I drove home from Houston. Shrimp Poboy, bag of Zapps and a glass bottle of Bargs. I actually miss that drive now.
