I will admit, that I have not tried the salmon app though.

I’ve had it about three times and my wife and I love it. OP saying it tasted poached is confusing. It’s never tasted anything but smoked for me.

I didn't say it tasted poached, I was referring to the lack of smoke flavor, it was pretty bland. I know it wasn't poached.

While I’ll admit that the dishes aren’t as interesting as when Ryan was in the kitchen, it’s still very good. With that said, I literally never order their sandwiches. Maybe try something else?

Baton Rouge has overrated culinary establishments? Color me surprised.

City Pork is one of the few bright spots in BR dining to me. It’s different from most restaurants in town and I have greatly enjoyed everything I’ve ordered from them.

It figures, you ordered the worst things on their menu.

I don't own or run a restaurant, but if I did, there would be no "worst things' on my menu. If your job is to prepare food for public consumption and you're relying on the public to keep you in business, it behooves you to make everything taste good at a minimum---to excellent being the main goal.

I haven't been in quite a while, but I have always gotten their Cuban sandwich and loved it. I've heard it hasn't been so good since the original chef left. He's now opened other places that people love, like Soji.

I’m far from a regular—-only a few visit over a couple of years, but it’s definitely not the place it used to be (food wise).

And for the most part, it lived up the the hype, and did so for quite a while. They lost their executive chef and are in a bit of a slump trying to find their way. It happens.

But to pretend as though they weren’t doing great things for years is simply disingenuous, in my opinion.

Honestly the place isn’t great but some things on their menu are pretty good. I think it’s so well liked in BR because the food scene in BR isn’t great so an average places like city pork are loved in the city and well liked
