Wal Mart pick up service

Fixing to get started with this. Opinions? Not sure how this works however. Got on the website and started shopping. How do you place the order when you are finished? Set pick up date and time. Don’t know about buying meat and produce like this though

An employee walks through the store and puts your items in a cart. They then bring it to a staging room. There’s coolers and freezers inside for your perishables while they wait on you.
Cons: You don’t pick the produce or the meat, so you don’t get the piece you find superior. And you never know how the employee handles your food - do they keep it cold like they are supposed to?
But if you’re resorting to store pickup, I’d imagine those two cons wouldn’t bother you.

My wife and I both tested positive in the last few days, so we are quarantined for 14. Last year we tried the grocery pickup at Walmart and we got a lot of stuff that we couldn't use. Such as regular tortillas when we needed low carb or canned corn instead of corn on the cob, so we got frustrated and quit.
Has that service improved? It would be more convenient to use than asking friends to pick stuff up.

I use delivery quite often. It’s a mixed bag. I usually get an email to approve substitutes. If you get something you don’t want or is expired, you can get an online refund easily. The problem comes in if it’s an item you need.
Maybe there are other stores in your area for pickup that do a better job on meats etc… I use another in my area for some items. They don’t offer delivery though.

Works great for me. When they don’t have what you ordered they will offer subs. You can decline. If something is bad (head of lettuce once), it was refunded from a simple text. I only shop Walmart pick up.

My parents use it and they like it. Worst thing that has happened is they were given 48 bottles of root beer in some mixup

I mean that sounds more a user error as they update when something has changed and you need to let them know if it is not what you want, same with instacart

I do pick up at Walmart about once per month.
When I want cucumbers, I want the biggest ones I can find. You get what you get with pickup, though.
If this is important to you, you might want to try Shipt. They are a delivery service for many stores like target, Winn Dixie and others. But you get to communicate with your shopper by text and you can even exchange pictures to make sure you get what you want or get your choice of substitute.
Shipt requires a monthly fee and tipping is expected on every order. I think Walmart discourages tipping.
With Walmart, sometimes things work out in your favor. If you order a 3 oz bag of bacon pieces, but they don't have it, you just might get the 9 oz bag for the same price.
If they get the order wrong, you can get a refund, but I think you have to bring the wrong item back to the store. I've never bothered with that.

I’ve never had to return an item to the store but I only use delivery.

Thanks for the info, I'll try it again this week. It's tempting to make a quick run to the store with an N-95, but we don't want to spread this to anyone. It's pretty miserable, even though we were vaccinated and its a relatively mild case.

Have had mostly a great experience with the one near my house. Times when they forgot something or gave me something close to expiring (like a giant box of spring mix set to expire the next day) I was able to get a full refund, no questions asked via the app.
It’s great to use during the week if you set your meals and then use Walmart to pick them up.

Cons: not picking out meat, fruits, and veggies.
Pros: sometimes you luck out and get a 48 count of community coffee k cups for the price of 24, like I did yesterday
Also it’s 5% cash back if you pay with the capital one Walmart card

Hope y’all recover soon. 40 year old daughter of a woman I know passed away this morning. Her mother is in the same hospital with Covid and oxygen issues and they could never talk or see each other. No visitors allowed so the mother cannot be comforted by folks. Tragic.
Pick up and delivery are not perfect worlds. Many of the shoppers are kids and/or people who don’t cook or know beans about selecting items. I’ve gotten some bizarre substitutions on occasion that were totally unrelated.

Sometimes the substitutions are ok (large bag of Stevia for price of a smaller one) and sometimes they suck, but you have the option to refuse the substitutions, so there’s that.
I haven’t used it in a while. Last time I was there, I waited 30-45 minutes past my pickup time for. Y groceries.

Wife was talking to her shopper on Shipt, and the kid said they didn't have any white grapes - only red and green.

Costco is the best experience I've had with pickup, you know what you're getting and the products are consistent.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of grocery items Costco doesn't carry.
I appreciate all the help, we're muddling through, my wife can't taste, I hope that doesn't happen to me.

I met Keith Rush once a few years ago and he had permanently lost all sense of taste and smell. He was skinny as a rail. (Keith Rush was a New Orleans radio fixture for decades.)
Get well soon.

I used it when it was still newer and had this issue several times. I ended up having to schedule my pickup at like 9am on a weekday, in which case I may as well go in.

I can't taste still. It's whatever. I lost 6#.
