I have one, and if I had it to do over again, I'd get a Vitamix. Too much cavitation with the Blendtec (got the wildside jar that's supposed to help, but it doesn't very much).

Vitamix. I have a Ninja. It was free and it is just ok. Vitamix are amazing.

That was my only problem with my Blendtec, but starting on slow speed instead of using the smoothie or other settings helps tremendously. Use it daily.
Vitamix was just too big for my space.

The Vitamix is legit. I haven't tried the newer Ninja model that came out in the last year or 2 aimed at the Vitamix, but the Ninja before that just isn't in the same class. The vitamix will liquefy pretty much anything. If your goal is to hide icky vegetables with sweet fruit in a smoothie, nothing beats the Vitamix. It's also good at turning frozen bananas into soft serve ice cream. We do prefer the Ninja for making Margaritas though, so it all depends on what you plan to make.

It seems like the vitamix is worth it if you can afford it. What about the different models? 5300, 750? Is the latest and greatest is the best?

Debated between. Vitamix and Ninja a year ago. Decided on the Ninja (based on a friends recommendation) and it works great for my needs.

If you are looking for sheer power and big time versatility, the vitamix rocks....hell the new ones spin so fast that it will literally heat the stuff. The downside is the price. But I gotta say that the Ninja does a good job with whatever you are needing it for....it's a good product .

I bought a refurbished 5600 for about $330 and use it a few times a week.
There's a reason all the others are compared to a Vitamix, b/c they aren't. It's worth every penny.

I have a Ninja and it does everything I want it to, including making natural peanut butter out of raw peanuts. Even though I know the blades are razor sharp, I seem to cut myself everyone I wash the thing.
