Viral food videos on social media

If any of you have a facebook I'm sure you've seen things like the "tasty" videos that people tend to share. Or buzzfeed food (I really can't tell the difference between the 2)
Anyway, is it just me or do these recipes just appeal to the white trash crowd? None of them seem to be any good or even use decent cooking techniques for that matter.
I get it, they're just trying to get cheap page hits, but these things are an abortion. And what makes me laugh is that there is about a 0% chance that the people that share them will ever make them.
God I hate stupid people

I actually like the step by step short videos some people post. I agree that they're not oozing of technique, but some people don't have time to prep for hours.

What bothers me is the whole visual approach to a recipe: why would I sit and watch a minute long video when I could scan a written recipe in 2 secs and determine if I find the recipe appealing? Yeah, yeah, I know I'm not the "target demographic" for monkey bread/pizza bites/ham rolls bathed in soup mix sludge. I love the "hide" button.

They are horrible. I've said this on here before, but there was one that really sent me into crazy person mode.
It was lasagna. They did literally every single step you do for regular lasagna (using a jarred sauce, which ugh, but that isn't the point).. and layered it all into a CROCK POT and then cooked it for 2 hours.
Now, maybe I'm crazy, but to me the whole concept of a crock pot is so you can have food cooking while you go to work all day or something. Sometimes you sacrifice quality for this convenience, but I understand it and I do crock pot roast often. But lasagna is literally doing the exact steps they posted and pouring it into a pan and baking it for 30-45 minutes.
They are proposing you spend more than double the amount of time making mush that won't even have the good crispy texture that a baked lasagna has. WHY?! I don't understand. 2 hours is SIGNIFICANTLY LONGER than 30 minutes yet not long enough to put it going while you go to work.
Yes, I'm mad.

I understand that
But I'm talking about very basic technique like browning meat. It's always some chicken they throw in the pan and they just cook it until it's white on the outside.
Flavorless garbage

Yeah that sounds extremely stupid
Just put it in the oven assholes

Or they use chicken breasts in every recipe when chicken thighs are vastly better in flavor/texture and have little to no nutritional difference.
I've often considered creating a site like Tasty and tricking people into thinking these are "easy hacks" but actually have them do legit recipes without realizing it.
"Every Day Red Sauce: You'll never use jarred again!"
With the editing these videos go through, anything can look easy.

Wait, what?
The crispy cheese on the top and edges of the pan is the best part of the lasagna.

You just have to realize that we do things differently down here. Half of these recipes have zero base layer to them which is crazy because almost everything I cook starts with some sort of trinity vegetable mix. Yankees

Right. Because no southern recipe ever calls for cream of chicken or cream of mushroom or rotel tomatoes. It's just a Yankee thing.
Why are there so many fat southerners if y'all all cook healthy meals from scratch using natural ingredients?

Dude it's a fricking joke, relax.

AMEN. That shite pisses me off to no end.
Unfortunately, the majority of their viewers think that chopped up and fried chicken and cheese is the holy grail of the culinary world.

I rarely even see many food videos on FB. I follow recipe and food pages, but it's pretty easy to skip what probably won't interest me. Can't say I've ever gotten mad over someone else liking refrigerated biscuit monkey bread. For those who don't cook or enjoy it, it's probably fine.
I get somewhat annoyed when I have to scroll through a bunch of political opinions from folks, but I just unfollow or limit posts from those who believe their opinions are worthy or might change someone's mind. I think they like to see themselves in print.
I follow more chefs, restaurants, cooking magazine pages then I do recipe pages.

Does stuff like that really make you mad?

I just posted 2 days ago and said can we stop with Buzzfeed and Tasty videos? They just make me think it is ok to be 300 lbs within the next month.
