Good enough for what? Are you being intentionally vague & obtuse.

To make money? No one has debated that.

Sustenance? Something ancillary that people pay for simply because the place has a nice atmosphere & margs?

Take it from the pretty much the consensus from people that give a shite what the food at a restaurant tastes like; it's not good. There are plenty of places that serve mediocre or bad food & still make boatloads of cash.

It is weird that someone would be an investor in the BR locale, having never tried the NO one. It's literally the only explanation for his posting here.

Good enough to get people to return...to the restaurant...the Velvet Cactus...located at 7655 Old Hammond Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70809...Phone:(225) 227-2563.

OK

Well, I'm pretty much done with this thread. The Velvet Cactus can and will speak for itself. Besides, Wayne Stabiler is suppose to be opening a restaurant nearby, next to the Backpacker. Heard it's going to be another Stab's. Looks like they will be spending 3 million or more on that location and probably serve less people than Velvet Cactus. I'm curious to know what people will have to say about it all.

Jesus...yall are brutal when it comes to VC. I think Olive Garden gets more love on here

Serious question though, to all of you who despise VC, do you equally dislike The Bulldog? Or just more of the mindset Bulldog = bar = low food expectations, so it's acceptable?

awesome. more overpriced mediocre food with a fancy name. Little Village and Stab's are both meh. The little village is WAY over priced and the 1 meal I had at Stab's was not good.

Ah. I see now.

Look, like I said, I still give you idiots my money sometimes because its close by me and they have an absolutely excellent atmosphere. Every time I go there I actually get a little pissed off because of how ridiculously nice the outdoor setting is with such subpar food.

You guys will make money hand over fist. It is what it is.

I think of the Bulldog as a bar and VC as a restaurant, so yeah, there is a different mindset. I find the Bulldog to have decent/passable bar food. I find VC to have dogshit mexican food.

I go to the Bulldog all of the time, but I rarely do eat there. I usually have a drink or 3 and eat elsewhere. But I don't mind some of the food there.

Same here, and that's what I figure most here would say too. Only food I ever get at the bulldog are the Porter fries anyway.

Are you suggesting that I'm affiliated with Velvet Cactus? I wish.

You should tell the "idiots" that the food is subpar if that's you only problem with them. Sounds like you really like the place except for the food. I know a woman who talked to the owner of one restaurant and got him to add table cloths to all their tables overnight. More often than not, the waitstaff ain't gonna relay your concern to management. The front of house manager ain't gonna do nothing about food, because they are too afraid of the kitchen staff, and rightly so. You have to get to the owner, the person with skin in the game.

I assure you, they know quite well what the reputation of the food is. One of my friends worked their and another is acquaintances of one of the owners. Like I said, they know, VERY WELL how their food is perceived.

They do not care because they are packed and there profit margins are obscene.

Like I said, they have found their playbook, and it works.
