I just want to taste the damn beer. They've been out talking about it for over 5 years.

Another update - beer to debut in August.

New Orleans Culture Hub will be 10,000 SQ FT.

G: What styles of beers are you brewing?
R: We have different styles, but the one that will debut in August is a honey ale. It’s been testing well outside of Louisiana, and we’ve been serving it at festivals. It’s a nice amber-style ale with traditional Munich malts. We also have Big Chief Cream Stout, which is a mellow stout that pairs well with seafood and desserts. We try to make beers that pair well with all of the robust flavors in Southeast Louisiana.

In this day and age of brewing, you need to stand out. Don't think an amber and a cream stout will do the job. Maybe i'm wrong.

Can we get at least one more brewery in Louisiana other than Bayou Teche to put out a good ole West Coast-flavor IPA? There’s basically Techeticles (which they’re now ruining with fracking blueberries), and that’s it. Everything else is haze boys.

The butt boys won't like it if you don't serve up the haze.

My brewing style incorporates soul because I’m a black brewer first, and those experiences have a way of diving into whatever I touch with the company,” he told Face 2 Face Africa. “You recognize that you might have a lot more hurdles than your competition. For me it’s healthy because it allows me to express myself and create something that can infuse civic pride into an area that has often been neglected.”

I'd be more focused on becoming a good brewer, rather than a "black brewer". Have they produced anything other than acquiring grants and loans with nothing to show for it?

You definitely have to be a good brewer with COVID making it tough on a lot of breweries. I will try their stuff if I see it in stores but it will be tough for me to make it to the east on any kind of regular basis.

What other brewery has a black brewer ? Just curious if I’ve tasted a beer with soul.

How does this relate back to Renthrope and Cajun Fire? Renthrope has been in business for nearly 10 years (8 years longer than Peoples).

Precisely what constitutes "being in business," I wonder? Because their beer just showed up on shelves in the last six months or so. And it's not like they were brewing for a nonexistent taproom.

I mean, I'm sure he probably does get sideways looks being a black man in a predominantly white industry. I'd bet that probably has made it difficult to secure loans, and maybe get favorable distribution contracts (distributors are all trash, so it's not whether you're screwed or not, it's how screwed you are), so I can see how race might be an obstacle. But if you can get it off the ground, which it seems like he has, I think this is an industry where if you make a quality product the consumer doesn't care what color you are.

Unfortunately they aren't, so there's that.

ETA: Wise, Brooklyn brewery is black owned

Looks like so far they seem to be taking the wayward owl route and releasing Irrelevant beers.
