Has anyone ever tried boiling lobsters like we do crawfish? I wouldn’t mind throwing in a lobster just to see how it tastes - but when do you throw it in?

Frozen meatballs
Seriously
Add them when you add the frozen corn. Will help cool down for the soak as well. I now add these instead of sausage

Not during the boil, but once after a boil I dropped in a 5 lb. slab of corned beef and cooked it down for about 3 hours in my seasoned crawfish boil water. That shite was great.

My buddy did this at my bachelor party. Best I can remember, he put them in pretty early. They were good.

I’ve never boiled crawfish but am curious. Do y’all take the outer layer off the garlic or just throw it in there? Also the pineapple folks, y’all just cube it up like you’d put on a plate and throw in the boil or keep the shell on and cut in half or what?

Boiled peanuts.
I boil a couple of sacks of peanuts when they're in season and freeze them in gallon ziplock bags. Throw a bag or two in the boil and let them soak. Almost as good as the cauliflower heads that get thrown in for a fast soak.

Frog legs. Seriously. Throw them in as soon as you turn off the fire and they'll be ready by the time the crawfish is ready. They come right off the bone.

celery & brussel sprouts are recently new to my boil on recommendations from friends. It's surprisingly tasty. I also like to have a couple of chickens ready and boil them after the crawfish. Makes for a tasty arse chicken salad later.

I always take off the very outside, but don't worry peeling off the skin. If you cook it right, you can just pop em right out with a little squeezing

I just quarter the pods of garlic. Too much work to be peeling all that stuff.
Some oddballs that I like:
Nopales (cactus) - This is probably more for the Texas folks. If you have a Fiesta in your area, they usually have cleaned cactus paddles and all I do is cut them in long strips, sort of like green beans.
Baby Bok Choy - add when you cut the heat for the soak
Golden beats - peel skin off and slice them into thin, but big bite pieces. Boil these 10 minutes before crawfish are added.
Hot Peppers - if you just want to eat them, do Jalapenos. If you want to get the water spicy, add a bunch of serranos (1.75 lb) and habaneros (3/4 lb) with tops cut off. If you want to save some $, buy less of those hot peppers and puree them, then add to boil water.

I did a lobster boil once. Boiled for 10 minutes, soaked for 20 minutes. Was enjoyable. Seasoned it like a crawfish boil.
