Who here eats turkey necks and how are they cooked?

So for maybe the past 10 years or so I've enjoyed a good boiled turkey neck on occasion. Well last week I stopped by the Brown Derby for some cheap soul food for lunch. They had smothered turkey necks in gravy which were pretty damn good. How else have you had them prepared? What's your favorite?

I eat turkey necks and turkey wings. I don't cook them myself, but my aunt in Lake Charles makes the best. She just seasons them real good and put them in a roasting pan to cook in the oven.

Put 'em in a crawfish boil. Very tasty.

My dad puts them in chicken and sausage gumbo and that's my favorite way to eat them

roast w the turkey in the oven. they stay in the bottom, soaking in the juice, so delicious. Sometimes i pull the meat off for the gravy, along with the chopped up giblets. Mostly i just eat the neck before serving, b/c no one else wants it.

I do damn it!

Make brown roux, add onion, celery, bell pepper, garlic. Add chicken stock. Add turkey necks. Add more chicken stock to cover necks. Bring to boil, then bring to simmer. Add salt and pepper. Let cook for about 2 hours or until just before the meat starts to fall off the bone. Meanwhile make a pot of rice. Like crawfish heads, don't be afraid to suck 'em.

ETA: Adding Better Than Bouillon to the pot certainly doesn't hurt.

I slow cook the smoked turkey neck (along with smoked hocks) in my black eyed peas. After cooking I shred out the meat off the bone and put the meat back in my black eyed peas.

My grandma used to make a pretty mean turkey neck gumbo.

I like them fried too. It's like turkey jerky.

I have used smoked necks as season meat but haven't had them on their own.

Boiled in crawfish boil.

One of my favorite things boiled.

I usually get them from LTK when I get off work.

I do this but make it a gravy. Also with chicken necks, gizzards and hearts over rice.

Boil in a crawfish pot along with oxtails too.

Smoked in any pot of beans.
