The best thing about this post is the reference to Frank's Baseball Cards. That was a great shop. There were other locations too. And the reference to the Beckett price guide, that hits home for me 30 years ago.

I'd love to know who this guy is.

When you get the Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich, do you get regular or spicy? Have you ever considered putting blackened ranch sauce on a spicy?

I just knew growing up I’d be rich from my baseball, basketball, and football card collection. Over the years of moving and divorce I have no idea where 1/2 of my old collection is but I’d love to look through it and reminisce about the 80’s and 90’s and card collecting

Can you remember a time when the Kenner police would park an empty squad car along I-10 to deter speeding? Those were magical times

They did this on Power Blvd. between W. Esplanade and Vintage too. I assume there were more empty police unit locations.

To the east, in that barren grass field, a quiet reminder of Pan Am Flight 759’s tragic one minute takeoff-plunge, felled by an afternoon thunderstorm’s downdraft.

You must have fantastic vision because the crash site was about 4 blocks on the other side of Williams Blvd

For being in his mid 30’s, this cat is gifted and likely scored off the charts on the Wechsler and Stanford-Binet tests. Most people compose their writings in black and white, TulaneLSU opines in 4K 3D imagery. He’s very astute to everything regarding the Crescent City and it’s suburbs.

I left Metry in ‘86 and enjoy reading his Top 10 lists. Pretty obvious those who have no clue about Pontchartrain Beach, Manuel’s Hot Tamales, Paradise Lanes, Sena Mall Theatre, or Frostop don’t appreciate his lengthy posts.

Only a true native of the Crescent City may describe a dozen hot glazed as 'ambrosial'.

We need arseinclarse to weigh in on these restaurant pieces.

That may be but this is another thread that sucks. While I appreciate his Frank's and Beckett call back the rest of the post was garbage on a couple of levels.

1. Trying to hard to channel his inner Toole.
2. The apparent lack of sarcasm in this post. Fried seafood is garbage, trash food. Only in south LA do people worship fried seafood.

The subtle hints at sarcasm are what makes the Skyscrapers and Isis posts work. The lack of sarcasm are what kills the Walmart and Restaurant Top Tens.

I don't know whether to love or hate TulaneLSU. After some posts I want to pm him to see if his mom will rent me a room for the summer so that we can work together on my screenplay.

After posts like this one, I just want to turn off the OT and never see his posts again. In these he really seems desperate to cultivate an image of himself as an OT Tom Fitzmorris but with greater scope than the culinary.

There's a thin line between love and hate and TulaneLSU knows how to straddle the edge of that coin.

I'll definitely keep reading him because the his good is great but it seems that when he starts cranking out the posts like he has, he falls back on the Toole/Fitzmorris crutches to help him bang em out. When he has a week or so to work on a post, he is more creative and kills it.

Apparently he is real since someone saw him posting in public on TD at the Latter Library (Glass?) and asked his username. By the way, what’s up with that innocuous lengthy post on page 1 by another poster calling out a bunch of posters by name? Who is Charles Bronson? Would the “real” TulaneLSU please stand up?!
