They do late night stuff with live music/DJs, so I have a feeling they get parties camping out more than they expected.

This was 715 on a Tues night. No late night stuff this night.

I was impressed that they were so busy on a tues to be honest. We Booked Marcelo’s on the drive over and they were busy too but they had no trouble taking care of us.

I went alone for lunch. They say me at the bar in the dining room next to the servers station. I was hungry, wanted noodles, and honestly did not care at all. But the servers stood there and talked about patrons the entire time with every seat at the bar filled. Made it real difficult to be happy about lunch costing $25-30 bucks after tip and I had to ask for my tea to be refilled.

I'm so glad I didn't compromise and have them seat me at the bar. Based on your report and how they handled my group, I think they better spend a little time training their staff.

I hope they are listening................

Great Wall > soji

I'm not going to go that far but Soji isn't all that great. I went for the first and only time last Wednesday. Got there around 7 and was told that there was an 1-1/2 hour wait for a table but we could sit at the Noodle Bar which was fine with us. We were sat at the bar and directly behind us there were 4 empty tables which stayed that way the entire time we were eating. So the wait time was pretty much bullshite that just seems pretentious. We tried the Wagyu Dumplings, Drunken Noodles and the Thai Boat Noodles. The dumplings had too much chili oil and were almost too hot to eat and each one tasted differently. I like spicy food but these were on the edge and the highly esteemed Drunken Noodles were the same way. I wanted to like them but the heat overpowered the entire dish and I regretted eating them the next morning(if you know what I mean). The SO got the Thai Boat Noodles and her main complaint was the dish was too salty and she didn't finish it. The execution was there but the flavor wasn't. Everything seemed to be missing something or the heat overpowered it. Lastly the only Asian person there was the sushi chef which tells me plenty. We have several great Asian places in BR that don't have neon signs in the bathrooms or a pretentious seating policy that put out better food than Soji. I'll stick to those.

Let the downvotes rain!!!

Maybe he got a bad one or maybe the head on freaked him out. A friend and I split one a couple months ago and it was awesome.

I had the whole fish and it was terrible. It is "striped bass" for some reason. We have the nation's best seafood in the gulf and they are serving striped bass whole?

In addition, they served the whole fried fish not whole. They served it by chunking the fish and frying chunks of fish next to the fried carcass.

Striper bass is good eating. I guess snapper would be better, but it'd be more expensive?

Ours was the same. Sorry you didn't like it. I thought it was really good.

i enjoy the food at soji, with one exception. the fried whole fish is terrible, and they need to either take it off the menu or try a different preparation

its really bad and everyone i know who has tried it says the same thing

It sucks to hear that they are having quality control issues with spice again. The first time I went, everything was excellent, but the dumplings were overwhelmingly spicy. A couple of months later, someone at the table ordered them, and they were much better.

Chili oil is an ingredient that just has to be locked in on quantity every time or it will ruin the dish.

Eta: I’ve never had the whole fish because this board starting shitting on it pretty quickly
