No updates from me, but I do hope its true. However, Baton Rouge is not listed on the New Stores Coming page.

I have a close friend in Birmingham, Alabama who is dying for one to open there. They don't have one.

They are building two in the Houston area. I don't see the big f'n deal. Perhaps it will draw away some of the people from Central Market who make it their jobs to eat all the free samples in the store and generally just get in the way.

My understanding is that it's happening here in BR.

Building a few in DFW. One within walking distance of me.

I've never been impressed with them.

The Advocate article 10 days or so ago said a "national specialty grocery store" is opening in that location in a 15k square foot building.

I looked it up and the average TJ's is 13-15k square feet.

So...it's looking good, maybe.

If like angler, I had a Central Market, Costco, Hubbell and Hudson, Jamba Juice, Spec's, and HEBs on most every block,etc..I'd be hard to impress too..

But, I no longer live in HTown nor Austin, thus Trader Joes is a huge add for the BR market..huge!

Costco..now on the BR clock!

It's probably just another walgreen's/cvs. We don't have enough of those in this town.

Seriously, 1) why are there so many damned pharmacy stores in Baton Rouge and 2) why is a Walgreens always next to a CVS?

Same thing in New Orleans. They're the coffee houses of the 21st Century.

The developers of the property said that they would announce who/what was being built in the near future(A month or so).

Excuse my lack of knowledge, but what type of store is Trade Joe's? Like just another grocery, or we talking high end like Whole Foods/Fresh Market etc?

It is a cheaper version of WF. The wine dept. has some very good bargains.

Honestly it's become their strategy to just saturate the market and to always locate next to the other. Walgreens has the larger market share as of now, but who knows how it will be in 10-15 years.

On to the Trader Joe's, we just got a few of them up here in KC this past year. They're honestly nothing special but they have real good frozen food and their dip selections are awesome. Great hummus, spinich artichoke dip, etc. Also they have their wine and beer selection which is really cheap and solid product as well

I was looking at some residential property in the area and the property developer used the fact that a Rouses from New Orleans was coming to that shopping center as a selling point. I was hoping for something like a Publix and was disappointed when I heard Rouses.
