Trader Joe's Baton Rouge

Anybody going here during Covid? Today was the 4th time I've tried to go. Each time, there has been a line outside of 20+ people waiting to get in. I can't imagine what they have at Trader Joe's that could possible be worth the 30 minute or more wait in 90+ degree heat. It's ridiculous. I've just driven by each time and gone to Sprouts or somewhere else. I haven't been to any other grocers in Baton Rouge where there is a wait to get in.

Wife and I routinely went every week. We haven't been since Covid came around. There is no way I'm standing in line to shop at a grocery store when literally every single grocery store in the city doesn't require a line to wait in.

I have certainly grown tired of the line. The thing that frustrates me the most is that they have a seniors only hour from 8-9 and wont let let anybody else in until 9. OK....I could live with this, but then 9 comes around and any senior, mother with a small child, medical employee can walk straight up to the door and the store “bouncer” lets them right in ahead of all the other people that have been waiting. If you’re gonna give people like that special treatment for an hour before everyone else, dont give them the special treatment for the rest of the day.

Also, I have found their produce to be pretty bad the last 6 months or so. Like buying a watermelon and cutting it right when you get home and it is mushy inside. Or strawberries and grapes going bad after two days. We just switched to using Southside Produce for these items, and have been pleased.

I don’t understand why someone would wait in line in this heat when literally every other grocery store in town doesn’t have one

The line at the one on vets in metry goes really quickly. I usually try to go mid week an hour before closing though. I hear weekends and after work hours the line is an issue.

I used to stop by all the time in my way home from work. Now that I can’t run in and out haven’t been Since the line. I refuse to deal with that line when I am there for a 10 minute quick trip.

Some people are clearly taking their lines seriously

They're back to normal hours but a lot of people think they close early due to Covid. So go at like 6:30-7 and your shouldn't have to wait long.

They don’t have anything worth the wait - the cookie butter is not worth the wait - buy the Biscoff brand (which is the original cookie butter) at any other grocery
However, does anyone know if the one in BR is selling the coffee plants??

I don’t go often but I did wait in the live for about 15 minutes in Metairie a few weeks ago. The 15 minutes I waited outside saved me at least 15 minutes inside. It’s usually a complete clusterfrick zoo inside. Limiting the number of people inside at one time allowed me to actually move through the store with ease.

Tried to go this morning and got there a little before 9. Line was past Pier One and wrapped around the corner. I went to Rouses.
