The whole point of Pepin asking Nick to resign was to see if he'd fall on his sword. Buck stops with the chef and since restaurant wars Nick has taken on role as head chef of Top Chef. His two dishes sucked. I dont think they would have accepted his resignation but I think it would have helped the judges and fans view of him.

The goal of Top Chef isnt to win. That is a myopic view, its to gain a whole bunch of people who'll travel to eat your food or buy your cookbooks.

Roy Choi po boi judge was the dumbest shite Ive ever seen. Not to mention the authentic food truck shot of Drago's at Breaux Mart on Magazine.

Not sure if this has been discussed in the thread previously, but does anyone know where the finale will take place?

Wow, thats random, hopefully your joking.

I figured they would take a riverboat up the river somewhere possibly similar to the Seattle season.

That wasnt the finale. Last year's finale was that awful staged Live Hell's Kitchen shite.

Next week looks like it is the pre-finale. So maybe 2 or 3 chefs move on to finale after cooking at Emeril's flagship.

They already went to Hawaii for a finale, so I assume they will go somewhere else. I think they just filmed it recently.

I thought I heard them say Hawaii for the finale. First season I've seen the show so I was surprised the finale wasn't in New Orleans.

I think Roy got taken by the "bet I can tell you where you got dem shoes" guy.

He destroyed the chefs.

This was a travesty.

Anyone getting fed up with Shirley? "My inspiration is from Top Chef"

GTFO! No way on earth I can pull for her.

I was shocked, that they kept Nick over Brian last night. Had to be body of work ruling.

I don't mind her. She's really been bringing it lately. Her dish last night looked killer.

I like her. I'm not fed up with her, because I find her to be genuine.

I thought it was really cool to hear them talk about the ruts they got into, and how they got out of them. It's inspirational.

Still don't like Carlos. Stephanie was my favorite. She seemed like she'd be cool to hang out with.

Shirley is solid and I'd eat her food. I think she really was probably blown away by the Vietnamese community in New Orleans and how they adapted their heritage to new surroundings. It probably sent off a lightbulb in her head that she can meld her Chinese background with classic French technique and it wont be laughed off set.

Shirley is what happens when a Tiger Mom produces a cook instead of a violinist or doctor.

Yeah he can get pretty annoying and he (seems to at least) make some bush league moves. I think a lot of it is he's just not used to the culture. You can tell many things get lost in translation with him.

I think Nic should have been cut. His dish the last episode wasn't that good looking. (Tuna with carrots a million ways topped with raw carrots)

Two shows in a row he had the worst dish. But the other guy used skinless chicken breast (oh the horror)

Someone I know who was at Cafe Reconcile said Nick's tuna dish was disgusting and everyone could hear him yelling at people in the kitchen from the dining room. But he might have put something better out for judges.
