I just know my heart sank when the Shreveport breweries went all ages. Still not too many at great raft, but the kids screaming and running around red river with ping pong paddles sure is fun.... Of course I only speak for one side since we don't have kids...but it would nice to have adult only places and I kinda feel like a brewery should be one.

Sounds like you should never have kids. Go to a bar that doesn't allow kids if it's that much of a problem. Do you hate dogs too? Most breweries are dog friendly too.

I love the fact I can go into US and see all ages in there and they intentionally made sure everyone knows all ages are welcome. Last weekend went to get a BBA mule (yes Perm, BBA) and there were a ton of dogs there.

This is how we do it.

Jax was drinking a BA beer the other day where the can top was dipped in wax with a pull string. Interesting idea.

Dogs aren't a problem... and most kids aren't a problem.. but this opens the door to parents who don't give a shite how their kid is acting. I went to B-52 in Houston and they have an awesome set up for all ages... it's more picnic area than brewery so really kids can run around and have a blast without bothering anyone who wants to enjoy drinks and conversation.. in this case I think it's an awesome idea.

However, most tap rooms I've seen and all the ones here in Shreveport are terrible for it. They are pretty small buildings (except for great raft) where if kids are running around they are running into and through people having a beer.

I'm sorry but a brewery is an adult place full of people looking for an adult beverage. If it's set up to where kids can be there and not disturb that cool. But why do I have to deal with someones kid running around being a loud obnoxious arse at a place I went to to relax and have a beer?? I mean does that really seem fair and reasonable?

I would go to more brewery taprooms if they were kid friendly. Hell, my youngest daughter still talks about how much she liked Wicked Weed, and it's been well over a year since we visited. Louisiana needs more taprooms that double as restaurants.

sounds cool.... but I'm guessing your daughter didn't run around screaming and throwing shite. That's why I said some kids aren't a problem.

Well if we're gonna cherry pick who we do and don't want in taprooms, there are plenty of "adults" who don't belong either.

I mean I guess you can call it cherry picking, but can we agree maybe you shouldn't bring your hyper wound up kids to a brewery and let them run around and scream while you sit back and do nothing about it?? Am I really that much of an arse for asking for that. I'm sure not going to walk into a chuck e. cheese and get pissed when I can't find a quiet place to hang out. There are just some places where certain kids acting a certain way aren't appropriate. I can see where it's a good move for some families, but now there are some who are gonna be like GREAT let's grab a beer while our kid annoys someone else... which is bullshite.

I have never enjoyed tin roof's beers.

I haven't had a PA or IPA in about 2 years so maybe they taste better but when I tried to give it a shot a couple years ago, I was not a fan.

I think most can agree, however, why punish the ones who can bring their kid and the kid behaves well?

I've brought my 4 year old plenty of times to GR now, and she doesn't run around and disturb people. She mostly is just fascinated by the tanks.

I can see that I guess... and part of me is happy responsible parents like yu and well behaved kids like your daughter are able to enjoy the brewery together.

I guess it's lose/lose... if it's 21 up you punish people like you... if all ages you punish a lot of patrons looking for a kid free environment getting disturbed by little shits (your daughter not included in this statement).

Trust me, little shits running around bug the shite out of me too, mostly because those little shits will influence my daughter and she will want to follow.

But shitty people are gonna be shitty people. To me, having a kid run around is no worse than the obnoxious drunk guy or "woo girls"

Virtually all breweries here in Northern Cal allow kids, which I'd never seen when I lived there, and I've yet to be disturbed by their presence. I think the key is enforcement of it (tag line something like "well behaved adults, children, and pets are welcome" would suffice). If someone is acting an arse, everyone in the brewery will stare daggers and they'll get the hint

and there is our common ground... let me backtrack and say the kids can stay...all of the kids...frick open up a playground next to the tanks provided that we could ban the obnoxiously cackling, OMG SCREAMING, girls night out groups.
