Thoughts on Fortaleza tequila? Specifically the reposado & anejo.

I've been fortunate to find the blanco & still strength at reasonable prices and wanted to see if anyone had any experience with the rest of their line.

If you’re not an aficionado, save your money. There are plenty of others.

Fortaleza is the GOAT tequila. Blind it next to any other and you'll be choosing it every time. The price has jumped a good bit the last couple of years, but it's still significantly cheaper and tastes better than that overpriced Clase Azul and DJ1942.
I do keep a few other tequilas that are good just to have some variety, but this is the best of the bunch.

It's hard to find, but I grab it every time I see it.

Really good, but pretty hard to find the last year or so. There are others that are easier to get that are as good.

Agreed on the scarcity. I just so happened to stumble across some at Total Wine recently. The repo was already bought out and It didn't look like they had the anejo at all.

Cazcanes, Wild Common & Tapatio are 3 brands that I keep getting recommended.

Its good and popular so scares and inflated in price some times. Grab it when you see it for regular price also look for G4 and tequila ocho. There is a difference between additive free and additive brands. Check out https://www.tequilamatchmaker.com/ and see who is what. Additive free taste like tequila should IMO. Things like clase azul are not additive free Fortaleza, G4, and Ocho are.

The Cimarron repo at ~$40 for a 1L is tough to beat for a widely available & additive free repo.

That's a great resource that I use as well
The reason for Fortaliza's scarcity is that they adhere to using traditional production methods of the massive stone wheel for crushing as well as baking methods. It's a small distillery, and about 2 years ago restaurants started buying them up due to their quality and cost. My understanding is they have been building to increase their production and should be seeing more availability in the future.

Great tequila and is my go to for margs and other mixed drinks.

Anejo and still strength are both solid. Blanco and reposado I am not a fan of for the price.
For a blanco I really like LaLo
