Was in town for the Christmas break...went to Parkway to get a roast beef po-boy, but line was way out the door...so went elsewhere for lunch...a few days later, I was told to check out Mahoney's to get my roast beef po-boy fix and it was great. and bloody mary was fantastic. will definitely go back.

Good neighborhood, mediocre poboy, IMO.

Solid choice Chicken. Check out R&O next time, best in town.

I agree with, t00f. If you can make it out to Bucktown, then go to R&O's and get the debris poboy.

I don't know why Mahoney's gets a bad rep. They do a good poboy. People seemed to dislike them initially because of the pricing, but the location dictates that and even high priced poboys are cheap relatively speaking.

The original owner made some good poboys. The place has changed ownership so many times I don't think I've been there for the last three owners. Never seems crowded.

Can't handle that sugary Dr pepper glaze that Mohoney's has. The crowd has been steadily declining the last few years.

Guess they need another DDD boost.

Fun fact no one cares about. My mom grew up in that house (before it became a commercial zoned property)
It was a shotgun. When they first opened my mom and I took my grandma and we told the owners that they used to live there and they let us go in the back and we found where my mom and her sisters wrote their names on the wall in an old closet.
It was cool experience for my grandma who lived there for 20 years.

So it’s not owned by the Mahoney guy anymore?

I do like the chicken liver po boy and the roast pork is good too.

Think it might have been sold again over the summer. They changed the outside shingle/sign to some cheesy chain looking sign.

Found this from 2013

Benjamin Wicks was the guy I was thinking of so apparently he’s been gone and now maybe someone else.
