Generally the only BBQ I eat in Louisiana nowadays is Oak & Smoke, Smokin Aces, & Gonzo’s. I stop by Grayson’s when I’m in the area, and Sonny’s maybe once every year or two for their ayce dry rub ribs.

Haven't been there in a couple of years. Definitely time for a visit!

Man, why limit yourself to just 3-4 barbecue restaurants? Get out there and eat!

people act like there's actual BBQ in baton rouge to compare this to
No shite! The town shits on anything that isn't originated in BR. Bottom line is there is not that much here worth bragging about that HAS originated here.

Agree. I wish Baton Rouge had some solid BBQ at a place I could sit down and enjoy. That said, Whole Foods does a good job. Their beans are fire.
I'm talking specifically Baton Rouge. There just aren't many options.

My go-to has become Jim's Texas Smokehouse in Baker. Best smoked chicken in the area, and this week you could get half a chicken for $6.95. Ribs are top-notch too! I don't eat brisket outside of Texas, and sausage isn't really barbecue so I won't pass judgement. And if you have kids along, they have a grilled PBJ for them.

Well we tried to try this place last night, but at 6:00 there were probably 200 people jammed in that restaurant so we went elsewhere.
Make average BBQ and Baton Rouge will pack the place

They were charging for extra cups of BBQ sauce for pulled pork sandwich. With no bottles for use anywhere in the restaurant. Almost unspeakable IMO

went to the original location in Oceans Springs yesterday.
it was OK. got pulled pork and ribs with baked beans and potato salad.
baked beans were bomb. pulled pork was good. ribs were too fall off the bone for me.
didnt hate the sauce.

I live in Zachary, and used to frequent Jim’s. They had to close shop due to health reasons. Hate it for them

Ate at The Shed last week. It was crowded like any new place in BR. Food is typical of the original (which I happen to like). My only complaint would be that the phone app notification system wasnt working to alert us our order was ready but still arrived in a timely manner despite the shear number of people. Also, we parked in the lot to the right where the white rope is. BR people being BR people and completely blocked in the first two rows of people parked. You couldnt go right into the field bc of the berm and barely managed to go left up on the curb between a truck and a drainage ditch. Other than that I hope it does well and the inside is very nice.

I went today for lunch yesterday and it was one of the worst meals I have ever had. The owner apologized and told us they were extremely understaffed and overworked, which I definitely feel for him, but I would have rather closed down than served what they did.
