I've never been to the pub and not seen something on the beer menu that I can't get anywhere else in the state.

Not to pile on, but Avenue Pub has never been my kind of place. I just don't get warm and fuzzies from the vibe there. Sure, they have some rare Belgian and Swiss beers and get great access to some rarities not available elsewhere. But it just isn't my thing, in general.

And there have been times I've been completely underwhelmed by the tap list. And other times it's been great. I've never been to one of the special events, so I can't comment on those.

I heard VOR is an MD alter???

What say you, VOR?

I can't speak for every bar in LA but Ave Pub is pretty damn good. Also, as has been stated, I've never seen anyone here say it's some national treasure, but the best we've got.

They have the best PBR in the business!!

I like it, but I'm not obsessed. But they have a good selection. I'd rather buy a few bottles at Stein's and enjoy them with friends at home, though.

Their special events are really where they shine. Did you see the list of events and lineup of beers that were served during ACBW last year? It was out of this world

I didn't but it was very crowded and we didn't stay very long.

The other stuff you mentioned(cellar etc) is really cool.

i like the building and atmosphere. The special events are great but I really enjoy drinking there when it's slow.

What beer bar in La has a more inviting atmosphere? Maybe BR Bulldog?

Also, I don't know of any other beer bar that does as good a job at keeping up their tap/bottle list, calandar and emails.

Ok, what's another place in New Orleans with an even remotely comparable draft selection? Its easily the best draft bar in town. Sorry they don't carry Russian River
