That was what stood out to me as well, its easily over $80/head minimum, I'd guess they could average around $100/head

I have been to about half of these. I counted 56 out of the top 125. Whenever I get frustrated with the City of New Orleans, which is often, and I ask myself why I bother to live in such a crazy place, I go to one of our great restaurants. Then I realize why.

Out of the top 100 I have only not been to Square Root...the other 99 I have been to at least twice. You can usually find me at the Doris bar.
Square Root will not get a dollar from me. Root is at best disappointing. We have dined at 5 of the top 20 restaurants in the world according to S.P...and so many Michelin stars that I count count...over 50 easily. Square Root ( based on several Root experiences) sounds like the bullshite we avoid it Copenhagen and New York. All style and no substance.
Further, Nola dining is not the best necessarily; but it is easily the best bang for the buck in America.

top 20 are mostly steakhouses. I like steaks, but rarely go out to a steakhouse.

That post was about Root (above square root).
I think my favorites in the city on the high end are August, Domenica and either Commanders or Delmonico.
On the casual side i love Basin, Fiorellas, and Coquette if that counts.
Sandwiches and such i go to steins like 4 times a week.

Went to square root last year for our anniversary, one of the best meals I've ever had. Was only us and 2 other couples when we went, I think it only seats 20.
ETA: to the poster who said they left hungry, I don't see how this is possible, you must be a picky eater and not eaten all the course. We were both so full after dinner instead of going out and taking advantage of a night with an overnight baby sitter we just went to bed.

Be careful, thems fighting words around here. Although it is true.
That list was very informative and really showed such a huge gulf between Square Root and everywhere else on the list. And loved how most of Brett Anderson's Top 10 spots in the city were all in the 20s and 40s.

I've been to several of those restaurants. Morton's is noticably more expensive than other steak places. Geatreaus is the most expensive meal for 2 people I've had in the city that didn't include bottles of wine. Commanders is the best value out of that list. Patois gets pricey because you want everything on the menu.
Friends went to Square Root. I think they said the bill was $700 or $800 for two. Either I misremember or there are lots of add-ons that not included in that $150/pp.

Owner of root killed my favorite Tapas restaurant btw, prior to opening Root. I do like Root though. Think they got rid of the goose liver pop rocks.

Wine pairing is also 150 / pp. Couple of drinks before dinner, proper tip and you're around 750. I still contend it's worth it, they cook right in front of you, just a few other people there and the food is fantastic.
