That side of corporate may be dying, but the other side is booming with Towne Center and the surrounding strip centers. Plus the other side has Jefferson Place/Bocage to support it.

Agree and I think the College / Corporate intersection could easily make a comeback if the area being discussed here were built into something useful. That and get rid of that weird gas station on the opposite corner that attracts all the trash.

The neighborhood directly across College is an issue though. The nicest development would still have to deal with that high-crime area.

[quote]corporate is dead.

This may be the dumbest statements posted in the 21st century. Any real estate this close to I-10 will ALWAYS be valuable.

I've heard that people have tried before. Nobody's shown up with a large enough bag of cash to get them to sell.

That place fricking prints money.

The landlord of that development must suck. All that empty space fronting the interstate (and alot in the back facing Corporate) and they didn't want a long term lease for Melting Pot? What are they doing?

For someone In The Know, you'd know that Hartley/Vey owns it and they don't GAF. BRBR had an article about them last year IIRC.

That used to be one of the most happening areas of BR.

There was a bar there for years in the 80's and early 90's that was a huge meat market, and a karaoke bar opened up next to it.. What was the name of the bar?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Sullivan's does move too because of issues with the landlord too.

The should move to Perkins Rowe

They absolutely could use a place like that there.

Also, Louisiana Lagniappe should move over there. People waiting for tables could walk around and shop while they wait for their table.

Before Waffle House had to do their remodel they approached the owner of that gas station wanting the corner lot and build a new building instead of remodel, they were swiftly turned away.

Parking really sucks at their current location

The Melting Pot has always sucked. Maybe a quality restaurant will take its place.

They had been in talks to move between the mall and Perkins Rowe but that was a few years back. Even before the sale was final, I was hearing that the BR location would get a remodel shortly after the sale was final.

Now that it is final, I doubt the remodel happens at the current location. What killed the remodel before was the landlords unwillingness to offer a long term lease or help pay for any upgrades to parking, lighting, etc. I don't see them caving in now.

The last thing they are going to do is help. They want them out.
