Going there tonight for an anniversary dinner. Is this a coat and tie place or a khaki/polo kind of place?

Any must try menu items?

I’ve heard good things about it. What are y’all’s opinions?

Khakis unless you’re trying to impress someone.

Went there for brunch. Wasn’t overly impressed. But they were only serving brunch. Nothing off the menu so my experience is limited. But my one experience wasn’t exceptional enough to make me want to drive back again.

I went for brunch a couple weeks ago and thought it was pretty meh. Some friends told me that ordering off the menu is better, but I doubt I'll ever go back.

Lol definitely not a coat and tie place. This place is in my hometown. As others have said meh at best. Their food looks way better in their social media pictures than it actually tastes. It’s not bad per say but why people drive out of their way to eat there in Bfe is beyond me.

Do y'all have a reservation? We went for brunch a moth ago and it was reservation only. I don't know about dinner. Brunch wasn't as good as I remember. And IIRC dinner a few years ago was order from the menu or a buffet. I got the buffet and it was fantastic. They had prime rib, fried seafood, gumbo, etc. But like I said, that was several years ago, things may have changed.

It depends if you’re a mover and shaker or not.

Thanks for the info guys. We do have a reservation and I don’t know what I need to get. I always enjoy trying gumbo at new places so I will probably start with that. Otherwise, any specific recommendations?

I see a lot of people getting their "Cajun Kevin" poboy which is covered with some sort of seafood cream sauce but it looks super-rich

We drove through that area last weekend. Parking was a pain in the arse. Didn’t realize that we needed reservations. We sat at the bar and had BLTs fries and Bloody Mary.

Then we went to bayou techs brewery for beers

I like it. The Kevin poboys good and I think I’ve had the praline chicken and liked it. Cafe Josephine down the road in Sunset is way way better though.

Lmao. My dad lives down the road. He should charge for parking because the road is a cluster frick. The poboy is good. Brunch isn't that great there.

We showed up at our reservation time and the atmosphere was cool. We had a good server who was very attentive. The wife got the surf and turf with the shrimp. The steak, potatoes, and asparagus were on point. The shrimp were hard to peel and dry. I got lured in to the buffet with their gumbo and fried shrimp. Both of those items were on point. I definitely got my moneys worth with those two items alone. That being said, the rest of the buffet was very meh. The prime rib was not good. The shrimp etouffe had good flavor but the shrimp were mushy as if they had been reheated. The seafood fettuccine was good but needed salt (no big deal).

For dessert, we shared a giant slab of blueberry bread pudding. It tasted like a dense blueberry muffin. We both loved it. It wasn’t overly sweet. It was perfect imo.

Overall, a positive experience. There will be a next time and next time I will order off menu.

Wear a good pair of jeans and a button down shirt and you are good to go.

I know this definitely doesn't help the OP, but I agree

We spent the night out there a couple weekends ago. Went to Cafe Josephine on Saturday evening, then hit up the races at Evangeline Downs, then the following morning went to Little Big Cup. Not a bad way to spend the weekend.

Last time we went it was a pretty unhealthy carb and meat fest. For a “fru fru” place the food was not very creative. Myrons around the bend from the Cup is better and less expensive. And agree that Cafe Josephine is worth the shirt trip to Sunset or Steamboat Restaurant in Washington. Palace Cafe in Opelousas.
