Same here. I also save all the fixins (except potato's they dont freeze well) to cook other dishes with.

Put the potatoes in the freezer for about 1-2 hours and then cut up and drop in the fryer. Pretty much the best fries ive ever had imo

Or dice them into home fries and drop in fryer or air fryer. They are like crack.

Has anyone ever tried putting snow crab legs in at the soak. I'm thinking about doing it this weekend.

Oh you mean like this just made it last night from his book for tonight. I used cream of jalapeño I had instead of the mushroom. No crawfish tho I put it all into my bread challenge.

You can also get a flat and wide colander and put it on top of the crawfish while they are soaking.

Solid idea…noted

I have, the legs are ok. Just have to let it soak long enough to get in but not over cook. I did lobsters too but I’d skip that. Seasoning didn’t really penetrate well the others were better split on the grill with garlic butter.

If I can find some I’d like to try mirliton in the boil this week. I had some a while back when buying from a retailer. Had no idea what it was so I had to ask but it was good.
I like the idea of bok choy but may remove the stalk bottoms before adding. Not a fan when the folds in veggies (cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, artichoke, etc) collect a concentration of the seasoning because many at the table won’t eat them. I have also done soup dumplings in the boil water several times, removing some of the water in a separate pot and gently cooking. Haven’t tried in the soaking process but I bet that can be done as well if careful.

It's more the clean up which everyone leaves to me to do. Besides, you never just decide to boil sausage-you always cook it another way. Throwing it a boil has to be the dumbest food move in the history of outdoor cooking.

To each his own but the sausage getting spicy and plump in the boil is one of my favorites.

How often do you boil sausage in crab boil when not boiling crawfish?

Never, which is why I enjoy it as a treat with crawfish boils.

I pretty much don't boil anything in crab boil when I'm not boiling crawfish

I don't boil onions, garlic, carrots, celery, etc in my every day cooking. Dunno why sausage is so hard to understand when people basically put anything and everything in a boil.

My in-laws said this when I met them. Fast forward 10-12 years, and all that sausage disappears fast when I boil crawfish for them.

We boil artichokes and mushrooms in crab boil (and seasonings) when seafood isn’t in season. We also boil peanuts in crab boil (and seasonings). Good stuff.
