Tom and Mary Ann are bringing back the Eat Club: September 1 at Andrea's to celebrate Tom's 50 years as a food critic. Cost of the dinner is $85.

Two things I love the most. T Fitz and Metairie.

I was honestly going to be disappointed if it wasn't.
I know Paul Allen and I are jazzed!

Does he still do the show himself?
I was looking at his newsletter a few weeks ago and it appear Mary Ann does all of the writing.
I read one entry about her not going to a wedding because she couldn't bring Tom with her. Is something wrong with him?

I had no idea he was still on. Last I listened his wife was on and I thought it ended.
Podcast is a must for his show.
Now when and where can I find the show? I used to listen religiously in the car for decades.

Tom has Alzheimer’s or dementia. He is there only in name. It is a sad thing to see.
I have been to many eat club dinners over the years and even went on three eat club cruises. My favorite dinners were the big black tie Christmas galas that we would go to just about every year.
I will try to make the 50th anniversary celebration at Andrea’s.

Used to be a good source, but many of those reviews are dated. Bon Ton has been closed for several years and the old review is still up and doesn't indicate it is now closed. I searched for Peche and it's not there.
I used to read his Talk About Food board some years ago.
I don't think Mary Ann does as good a job as he did (not that he was great) on the Dining Diary and I wonder why he no longer writes that himself.

Which cruises did you go on and when was this?
Posted on 8/5/22 at 5:05 pm to Paul Allen
The last one we went on was a cruise to New England and Canada in 2016. We were on it when Les Miles was fired.
A few years before we went on a Mediterranean Cruise from Rome to Rome.
Then there was the Transatlantic crossing on the maiden voyage of the Norwegian Epic.
Great times all.

It's pretty obvious if you listened to him ca. 2017-19.

We went on a couples dinner a few months back to Charlie's Steakhouse. We are all chit chatting at our table over pre dinner cocktails, when we hear a table behind us dying of laughter. We all turn around, curious as to what is causing such raucous behavoir. Lo and behold, it's Tom himself holding court, per usual, with a glass of the house Chardonnay.
I knew this was a once in a lifetime chance, so when he got up to use the restroom, I followed him and caught up to him right before he went in to use the camode. I asked if he would mind stopping by our table to share a story of Warren Leruth and the old Gretna staple that beared his name (we are all proudly from Gretna). Sure enough, Tom pulls up a vacant chair and begins on a 45 minute monologue on Warrent Leruth, barely stopping to sip his wine! He finally cheers the table, got up and while gave me a wink. I smiled and thought to myself "By God, he still has it." As the night wore on the ladies of the table would not shut up about Tom's charm and good looks. Needless to say, there were a few upset husbands that night in the Uber home.
