haven't tried their pizza, but their chicken marsala is shite
legit meat lasagna though

Had their meat pizza once... it was ok. It cemented my belief that alligator has no place in a restaurant that isn't a tourist trap.
any use for alligator can be better served with another meat (usually chicken)

This is a pretty good point. It's just a way for restaurants to be different.

We tend to rotate around the area, mostly Metairie, but we like:
Tower of Pizza (classic American pizza joint)
Mark Twain (love the Louisiana pizza)
Mama Mea -- almost always an available table for our big group of friends; good prices.
Reginelli's -- open later than the others, can get there on Fridays after football games. Pizza's good, pesto tortellini is quite nice.
Café Roma on Causeway--convenient, decent pizza, they'll stay open late if you call.
Brooklyn--like their pizza.
Rocky's haven't been since they closed the Metairie location, they had the most unique crust.
New York Pizza--always liked their pizza.
Mo's--LOVE the confusion with the crust, nice thin at the center, with the big dough bubbles. Lots of pizza for the money, and good flavor.
Rotolo's on Vets. horrible red sauce, just horrible.
This order is as they come to mind, not a best to worst.

Domenica, CBD: Only had it once, but enjoyed it. Expensive, but to be expected considering where it is.
A pizza at Domenica is $13. That is hardly expensive. Especially considering all the pizzas are $13 and the ingredients they are using are far superior than most.

I could have eaten two of their pizzas. Per calorie, it's the most expensive pizza in the city, with Pie and Sausage Co. shortly behind.

Am almost tempted to call your bluff and challenge you to eat two Domenica pizzas in one sitting. If you can, I'll buy. You wont, so you will buy.
Posted on 8/1/11 at 12:30 pm to BlackenedOut
You're kidding? A whole pizza at Domenica is equal in calories to two slices at Mo's or Brooklyn.

That is just pie in the sky theories, pun intended. You have no idea how many calories are in either pizza. Its ok. You are just wrong here.
$13 is not a crazy amount to spend on a pizza. Pizza which by the way comes with all sorts of different toppings (without adding to the cost).

NOLA styled to me is slightly thicker than thin crust with a very doughy crust around the edges. It has a substantial amount of red sauce with a lot of cheese.
What I base my caloric calculations on is the amount of fullness I feel after eating both. The feeling of eating an entire pizza at Domenica = the feeling of eating two slices of pizza at the Brooklyn or Mo's. I'm not sure why people here are so baffled by it. Domenica uses very thin crust with not that much cheese. The other places have thicker crust and a whole lot more cheese.

Sounds like a pizza that someone tried to make NY style and failed.
Posted on 8/1/11 at 12:46 pm to Catman88
Traditional New Orleans style may be just that.

What's up sader?
I've passed by it any number of times, as Mrs. loves Izzo's. I have heard from more adventurous friends, that it's a bit more expensive than most pizza places. That will keep us out for quite a while with tuitions and such.

You began your post by saying New Orleans lacked good pizza until recently. Then you shifted halfway thru into how you are ranking traditional New Orleans pizza which you place at the top. Then you decided this is a value/caloric intake based argument.
Which is it? Best pizza? Best New Orleans style Pizza? Best calorie to cost ration?
