i usually just eat rouses or whole food king cakes, i don't go shopping for them. Both are good if they are fresh

This too.

I eat Rouse's the most, but I'll grab from another place if I'm around and possible seek out one new place a year.

Butcher does small individual king cakes that are pretty damn good.

Randazzos is the most overated sugar coated turd I've ever ate. I've had better king cakes from Walmart.

You had a fresh Manny's kingcake? It is one of the best I've had anywhere between BR and Nola and my office likes to see how fat they can make me during kingcake season. Not this year though . Did too much damage during the holidays.

I grew up on Randazzo's king cakes and I enjoy Sucre's (albeit they're kind of pricey for what you get). Grocery store king cakes are crappy for the most part and since I've been at LSU I at the 'king cake' options in B.R. (aka a hunk of bread with sugar on top). Although I've had Ambrosia's before and it was decent.

FWIW I don't like Gambino's and the traditional McKenzie's/now Tastee's king cakes. I'm just not a fan of a hunk of french bread with sugar on top and Gambino's are just not good; very goopy, stale mess.

3) Tastee's - Wait, didn't you already list this? No. I listed the old McKenzie's. This is for Tastee's donut king cake, which, IMO, has the best taste of any king cake, but since it is not traditional, I have a hard time putting it at #1.

I absolutely love this one and my friends give me crap about it all the time.
