I can only speak to HEB Central Market, but that place is heaven. It's their upscale store here in Dallas. Meat and fish selection are top notch. Produce section is huge. Grocery has everything HEB carries I believe. Big aisles and big selections all over.

HEB is the best grocery store chain in the country.
However, if you're in a large city in Texas, good luck going there at any point on the weekends and it not being a fricking madhouse.
HEB house brands are as good or better than most name brands.

since nobody has anything negative to say, I'll add that I find them to be slightly more expensive than other stores, but you can make up the difference by buying HEB brand stuff, which, as mentioned, is usually of fantastic quality

Dislikes: They have the absolute worst bakery. Truly bad. If you are from BR and used to Calandro's, LeBlancs, even Mathernes has better bakeries. All the breads are soft, overly sweet, and not very tasteful. It is the one area where HEB should try to improve. But they don't need to to keep the people shopping there, because they do have the lowest prices.

HEB is my go to grocery. It's probably my favorite large chain. Their prices are reasonable and they have high end Central Market brand stuff that you can buy there. Lots of organic choices are available if that's your thing. Great produce.
Not all HEB's are equal though. It depends on how old it is and the area it's located. I've been to some that are not very good, don't have good produce selection, and poor beer selection. But those are in the minority.

I use Shipt because of this. Worth every penny to me. Can get deliveries from regular HEB and Central Market.

HEB meal deals are worth it alone.
Buy one item --> get 5 other items free!

There's a delivery service in Austin (prob other cities too) called instacart. You fill out your list online and they deliver to your house.
The freak show that is the HEB on Congress and Oltorff made me use the delivery service.

Likes: Service, quality, cleanliness, affordable, selection, oven ready meals, central market brand.
Dislikes: Hard to find a parking spot (check out lines move fast, no worries), and for some reason always have a weak selection of k-cups. That's pretty much it.
On a lighter note, shopped at the West U location before moving and the talent level was insane. All 100% out of my league, but its still nice

Also true. HEB in my hometown was extremely outdated, and I thought people were insane when they said HEB was their go-to. Went off to college and saw the light. Hometown HEB was torn down and the new one they built is apparently top notch again.

I've thought about using this, but I don't know if I'd like it for getting produce. I'm pretty particular when it comes to this and would be afraid that the delivery person would pick out some not so great produce. For other stuff, it makes a lot of sense to me.

Mine usually has every lane open when I go. It's never bad.
Not to mention Shipt is an HEB partner, so we use that a ton.
HEB is awesome.

The HEB+ are incredible. We stop at the one in Corpus and could spend a day in there.

The only negative I had with HEB is their international selection is lacking. For that there's Fiesta, they have a really good international selection.

can't live without this...

If you like fajitas you will love HEB. When I go to HEB I get the pre-packaged fajita meat - like the beef but have been getting the chicken lately, fresh made flour tortillas from the bakery, HEB green sauce, fresh made guacamole, lettuce, tomato and onions for sauteing.
I rarely get fajitas at Mexican restaurants anymore because the ones I make at home are just as good or better. The tortillas are fluffy, soft, warm and heavenly. Sometimes I just get tortillas and dip them in butter.
I have friends who load a cooler full of the pre-packaged fajita meat to take back to Louisiana every time they come over.
