I grew up close to new roads but a lot has changed in the area since the last time I've been. We're going crusing tonight in the area. What are some good spots in NR and St francisville?

I knew of this place years back in st francisville that looked like a old long house right off the road that had a killer home cooking buffet. I forget the name.

Magnolia Cafe in SF
Downtown NR has a few restaurants: My Mama's Kitchen, Satterfield's (live music), etc. Other smaller hole in the wall places, but I wouldn't expect much more than what I mentioned.

D'Johns. It's been closed a long time.

St. Francisville has a new Lebanese place. It's across the street from Magnolia Cafe. It's surprisingly good. Hot tails in NR is okay if you if you like to wait in line a lot. Satterfields wasn't bad the last time I ate there.

Watch your speed in SF. It's a speed trap.

Read about a place in New Roads in the paper this morning. I heard it is worth a visit but have never been there myself.

I've been there a couple of times. It's a nice place, but I realized I just don't like the food there after trying a few different dishes. The seasoning blend they put on everything doesn't taste good to me -- it has too much dried habanero pepper or something. We got char-grilled oysters that were covered with this thick salty sauce -- almost like a roux. Just not appealing at all.

I feel the same way about it. I prefer my food to be seasoned as to enhance the food, not to totally dominate it. Everything there tastes the same because of whatever they cover it in.

I'm also not a fan of the walk up window/self service style of service for that price point.

Like it's got the ebola.

And I've been driving through St Francisville for over 50 years and don't even recall seeing a police car much less a speed trap.

And I'd say Magnolia Café is your best bet on either side of the river.

Bueche's Bar and Grill on the island side of False River. Best food on the river. Also, Sandbar is pretty cool on the New Roads side.

Hot Tails is the answer you seek. Cody can cook up some good grub.
