I saw this posted and realized how bad the industry will take a hit by this coronavirus.

“Let’s support our local businesses by buying local and eating local, during this time. Especially our restaurants, by picking up food to go if needed”.

I already do, but I'm going to visit these places a little more now. I feel so bad for these small businesses.

If Jazzfest gets cancelled, and we know it will, there are going to be a lot of closings. The cancelled conventions has already hurt a lot.

Agree that is what I was thinking after reading a few things today. Grits Gris post brought more to light. Wife going to Costco and all meat was gone. So, I guess people will start hunkering down. Which means our food places will get hit.

I will support my locals as much as possible.

I just went to lunch at a Thai restaurant that I go to often. Normally it's packed at lunch time. Today there were 5 tables occupied out of probably 30-40.

This is from Cory Bahr's restaurant, Parish, in Monroe.

"To our beloved patrons:

We want to assure you that Parish is taking every possible measure to keep you safe from COVID-19 (Coronavirus). We understand our responsibility to our guests, our staff, and our community, and we take that responsibility very seriously.

While we already clean and sanitize all surfaces, glassware, plateware, sinks, and bathrooms regularly, we will be implementing a virus protocol that includes sanitizing surfaces and door handles and washing our hands more frequently in between contact with customers or one another.

When you arrive at the restaurant, we will do our best to keep you safe, but please understand that if you have visible symptoms of respiratory illness (coughing, sneezing, etc) our staff has been instructed to not serve you.

Please stay home if you're sick or showing any visible signs of the virus. This is a vulnerable time for our country and we all must do our part and take necessary precautions to keep each other safe.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work together to keep you fed and safe!

-The Parish Family"

If I get to work remotely, I’ll be eating out a lot more at lunch.

This actually is bad timing. End of March and April are traditionally the worst part of the year for restaurants

I’ll be doing my part. Going to hit a few breweries and restaurants in the neighborhood while the idiots stock up on toilet paper and hand sanitizer.

Normally I eat breakfast at home however, yesterday I went to Russels Marina Grill. Lunch I picked up a sandwich at Francesca’s. Made tacos for dinner. You got to love Lent in NOLA! Shrimp or oysters on Friday! I just need to find the mom & pop shop to support.

Maybe it’s good timing then based on that logic?

I went to a few stores and finally found toilet paper earlier this morning. Bought 96 rolls just to keep up with the panic. Canned goods were sparse, almost like a pre hurricane.

Our Kroger was a madhouse last night. The check out lady said they had been so busy it was like they said it was going to snow the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The store was a mess and lines were ridiculous.
