Work dinner Friday night. I have not eaten there before. Any suggestions on what to order? Anyone been recently?

I looked at old threads and all I could find for the past several years was a discussion of the decreasing quality of the food.

Good place in 2010 era. Not sure what it’s like these days. I wanna say the original chef who opened it is no longer there.

Original chefs (Justin Ferguson and Eric Sibley) have both long since been gone. Justin is chef/owner at BRQ now and Eric seems to move around a lot but last I heard he was at 18 Steak....I have not been impressed the last few times I have been

Their appetizers are honestly the best things on the menu imo. I like to go there for just that and a couple cocktails.

That place flat out sucks. They can't figure out how to cook simple things like a steak, so if you are going for the food...you will leave very disappointed.

Been to stroubes twice. First time had a filet that was excellent. 2nd time just charbroiled oysters and drinks that were very good too. Just thought I'd counter some of the negative reviews with my experiences there

ETA full disclosure the last time was also the last time I was in Baton rouge which was 2012 so maybe it has dropped off

I have only ever been for lunch. Lunch special on Wednesday is Chicken and Waffles which is absolutely delicious. There's one other solid lunch special that was some pasta that was very good. Everything else I've had was average
