Icon Red isn't that good. I have two left in my fridge from the original 4 pack...its a belgian style Pale ale. just ok but not something I would go out of the way to drink.

I'm really interested to see what they have done with the Black IPA (they are calling it cascadian dark ale)

and this is why we fight

black IPA = bleh....bitterness of the roasted malt clashes too much with hop bitterness. CDA is a fad, and a bad one at that

belgian quad....my hopes are moderate since i dont have any history with st arnolds and belgians, but i am holding out hope

Has anyone tried Bishop's Barrel #2?

I assume it's out but haven't had any yet.

I have. It was pretty good but not worth the price tag and not nearly as good as BB1.

I had it at Richmond Arms a couple weeks ago and they were asking $10/bottle.

I haven't had either BB series beer. I don't like bourbon beers
BB2 was aged in chardonnay barrels, no whiskey there.

I've had some black IPAs where that is true. However, some have enough chocolate malt sweetness to properly offset the hop bitterness. And the result can be special. RE: Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous.

I don't think so.

Had BB2 last week, thought it was okay, wouldn't drink 2 in a row though, too sweet. With this ICON brew out I guess I have a reason to go to Spec's tonight.

I had a bottle of it the other night with my empanadas at Marini's emapanada house in Katy. I wasn't overly impressed with it. I would drink again, but it didn't blow me away.
