"Somebody Feed Phil" - Netflix Series

Highly recommend this series that just came on Netflix. The host is Phillip Rosenthal, who created "Everybody Loves Raymond." He's a quirky, funny guy; and his awkward Jewish personality is really lovable and engaging. He does several good places like Saigon, Bangkok, and Tel Aviv.
But his New Orleans episode is exceptional. A real love letter to the city and he just paints the culinary scene of the city in such a beautiful light. Mosca's, Dooky Chase, Willie Mae's, Turkey and the Wolf, Bevi Seafood, and Shaya are a few places he visits.
Completely different feel than the Ugly Deliicous series and more of a celebration of food and culture. I recommend it.

We watched them and thoroughly enjoyed them. If you look, there is an older series as well, from like 2015.

Three downvotes for recommending a food show. This place...

I enjoyed both of his series very much. He is a bit awkward but it becomes part of his charm before long.

That one is called “I’ll Have What Phil’s Having.”
I have enjoyed all of his episodes from both seasons. His Paris and Florence episodes are really fun watches.

The people downvoting you suck. That’s such a great show. Watching him in Lisbon put that as one of my top travel destinations that I want to go to.
He’s quirky and awkward and it’s endearing. And I really appreciate watching someone who knows even less about food than I do explore the culinary world.

He's absolutely the anti-Chang in every way. Not a chef or a cook. Just a lover of food and culture and has such an infectious personality.

Glad I did a search before starting a thread on this show. I skipped ahead to the New Orleans episode and loved it. Glad to see others do, too. Now I'll settle back and watch the others.

I did the same thing. Watched the NOLA episode to see where he went, and I really enjoyed it. Watched all the other episodes in order after that.
I enjoyed that he isn't a "foodie" and takes a unique approach that most of the other travel food shows take. It was very approachable, and getting to see someone who knew nothing about food experience other cultures was really entertaining.

Great show he had a similar Show run in PBS called “I’ll Have What Phil’s Having”.
I like his quirky personality and his parents and the theme song is really catchy.

Spot on. Back to basics, the anti-Bourdain. Refreshing television.

Enjoyed it as well. I find myself constantly scanning Netflix for the next food documentary I want to watch. Not sure if it’s been discussed but chefs table is coming back in April with a new season...this time focused on Pastry.

I’m the same way. Any others that you have found that you’d recommend? Besides the Bourdain and Chef Tables, I’ve really enjoyed an Emril Lagasse documentary on Amazon Prime. It’s about 7 episodes and he pairs with a well respected chef to travel to different countries and sample the best of their cuisine. Really well put together.
Also I’ve watched one episode of Chang’s Ugly Delicious and the guy is just too big of a tool to really enjoy the episodes.
