Any good if so? Details.

I have been on a tour of the kitchen/bar. This place is going to be a big hit. Everything you want out of a good asian place. Crispy wings, ramen bowls and different sushi dishes.

They are going to have some really flavorful dishes lined up, check out their IG:
SOJI Instagram

Also, dont sleep on their cocktail menu, I know the bar director and they have some amazing stuff in the works!

Must be why I got 3 downvotes for providing context and a logical link to look at their actual food hahahaha

I'm looking forward to this place. Asian fusion/Japanese/Izakayas places are super hot right now, at least in Austin, NYC.
BR is lucky to get a place like this. They should kill it.

Completely agree. Some very hot spots in Austin like this are making a killing and are constantly packed. I too am very fired up about Soji.

Soft opening was last night, and I had some friends who attended and said it was amazing.

I went last Tuesday night to an opening party.... it’s excellent. This place will do really well, imo. Ramen bar was pretty cool..... he had a crudo app that everyone raved about.

Looking forward to trying the menu.

So, definitely forgot to check back in...

Went Thursday with two other people. Very casual vibe, but still cool. Wait staff is mostly Mid-City hipster, so if that's going to make anyone clutch their pearls, fair warning. As a random note, there are multiple three sided booths, so if you have a group of 5, it's actually not too bad.

Anyway, started with Basil Gardens and Crane Kick cocktails. Both were excellent. Table got a bottle of the Green Ridge Junmai Ginjo (sake), which was very good. Tried the Japanese Mule, which was also good, but I preferred the other two cocktails. We started off with the Crudo (excellent), followed by the Pork Belly Dice (excellent), followed by the Wagyu Dumplings (good, but the chili oil was overpowering. My least favorite dish of the evening), followed by the table splitting the Thai Boat Noodles (absurdly good, with a depth of flavor that surprised the hell out of me), the Drunken Noodles (very good, but not quite as interesting as the spice takes over a little), and the Butter Chicken (excellent; probably my favorite Indian dish I've ever had in BR). At this point we were quite full (and a little buzzed) so we passed on dessert.

I was told that it's soft open this past week and next week, likely grand opening after that (full lunch and dinner service), and at some point in the relative near future, they plan on having their outdoor enclosed bar open until 2am and raman service until 1am. Obviously plans can change, so don't hold them to that, but I'm excited about the prospect for late night raman on the Government corridor.

Overall, I went in with high expectations and wasn't in the least bit disappointed. I'll probably see if I can make it in again at some point this week to explore the menu a bit more.

Went Saturday. Definitely a strong hipster presence, but we knew that was coming.

It was a hot night, and we waited at the bar for the table. Heat was oppressive. Need some air flow through the bar. Fans were blowing, and the tunes were blasting over the fans... had to scream at my date.

Szechuan Wings are 5/5.
Crispy and flavorful.

Wagyu Dumplings are 4/5.
Flavor is good, but too much heat.

Thai boat noodles are 3/5.
Great egg noodles, however the broth was too woodsy and the aftertaste lingered.

Drunken Noodles are 5/5.
Great dish. Tender meat, full of flavor and spice.

Will eat again. Service was good. Parking sucked.

I was told that they are planning on installing A/C in the bar. Just hasn't happened yet.

Different strokes for different folks. That broth knocked me off my feet

ETA2: Just edited my last post. Completely forgot that we ordered the dumplings...
