I couldn’t live without Diet Coke. I have one every morning as my “coffee” and every evening with dinner.
When I’ve gone to Mexico or Dominican Republic where they only have “Coke Light”, I came home an insane person.

They are getting harder and harder to find. The one they had on Clearview closed down.
When I was a kid growing up in the Lower 9th Ward I'd go to the one on the corner of St. Claude and Aycock St. in Arabi. They had the booths by the windows with the remote Juke Box on the end of the table if you wanted to drop some coins in for music.
It's long gone now and after the Frostop closed it was turned into a dive bar for a while then torn down and replaced by an auto parts store that is still in business as far as I know.

Mixing cherry Coke and Dr pepper at the fountain. I might drink 1 soda a year now though.

I was referring to the Frostop franchise. As far as I know, there are only 2 left. One uptown and one out near Laplace.
As far as the root beer, I've seen it from time to time at the local Rouses, but it's not there all the time. I got a few bottles the last time I saw it there and it's definitely got the flavor. Just need to get some heavy duty glass mugs in the freezer to make it complete.
And speaking of heavy duty glass mugs, I was in Liuzza's on Bienville a couple months ago with the wife and we split a "Frenchuletta" and I had 2 frosted mugs of Abita Amber to go with it. HEAVEN on a warm day.
