I'm going to Cincinnati for a day next week for work. Is this worth my time seeking out? I honestly don't know of any other culinary options in that town.

I have family up there and stop by a skyline at least once when we go and visit. I Just get a couple of chili dogs and have always enjoyed them.

The chili has a chocolate taste to it, it’s definitely different.

I've never had it, but the guys on Pardon My Take always talk about it and consider it one of the most vile, disgusting things they have ever eaten in their lives.

let's just take a moment to reflect on how fortunate we are to live where we do. That is all.

No. Skyline is pretty gross.

My family that lived in Cincy always took us to Camp Washington for Cincy style chili. If you're near there, it's maybe worth a trip, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Skip the chili and get a pizza from La Rosas.

Get about 3-4 Coney Dogs, they are small. I recommend mustard chili onions and cheese.

I go up there for work on occasion. It blows. I would stay in Covington if I were you. I would also avoid the chili places. And I’m a pretty big fan of chili and bad food in general. But that skyline shite sucks.

Same. Skip Skyline...its weak.

If you are in town and want a Dog, go to Senate. It’s legit. Was probably our best meal n ‘Nati last summer while visiting wife’s family.

My wife's family is from cincy and they love the stuff. It's ok. Get a 3 way and some hotdogs. It's definitely different.

It's more like extra meaty spaghetti sauce than chili. Without the oregano. It's sweet more than savory. It's certainly not gourmet dining, it's probably on the level of Whitecastle as far as fast food.

I like their Chili 4-way (no beans), but like a previous poster said, it's a different type of chili, with chocolate and cinnamon added. If you don't go in with high expectations you might enjoy it.

It's fine. Not a culinary revolution but a decent experience. Probably much better places to get chili.

Though I don't have a ton of cincinatti experience rhinegeist brewery is really cool, and there's an indoor market a few blocks down that has some good stuff. If you are across the river in Covington, Braxton brewery is supposed to be good as well.

If you want a coney like that, order a "Skyliner all the way." The coneys are great, but if you're traveling all that way you should try it over pasta. I usually order a 5-way (spaghetti, chili, onions, beans, cheese) and one Skyliner all the way.

Don't think chili. Cincinnati chili is its own animal. It's a little on the watery side. If you get it over pasta it might seem too watery at first. But when you've cleaned your plate there's no liquid left behind. Don't eat it like you would eat spaghetti. Use a fork and cut bites out of the mass of pasta, chili, and cheese. The cheese will sort of melt on top and kind of hold it together. It's served with oyster crackers. Hot sauce is available (I like to add my own habanero Tabasco).

Gold Star Chili is a competitor of Skyline and they're good too. It's not haute cuisine. It's a step above fast food. I've had homemade Cincinnati chili that was a little fancier but I honestly don't know if any regular restaurants in Cincy serve a version of it.

Hmmm...I might just have to hit up Skyline for lunch tomorrow.
