Wonder if the one in Metairie harreses women employees and forces them to work while have the building guarded with an armed employee like the ones in Houston supposedly did?

Meh. I really can't see the owners of this location letting something like this happen. They are good peeps.

And the women of Old Metairie would lose their fcking minds of they heard of them trying something dumb like that.

BTW what I was referencing was reportedly being done with and with the knowledge and sometimes by a member of the Shipley family who still own the company.

I guess the people in this thread define a good kolache as a hot dog.

Confirmed

Although I prefer the ones at the Donut Hole in La Place with the Veron sausage.

Looking at this, appears to be a baked version of a corndog?

LSU fans rejoice.

Shipley's Old Metairie

Was in line at 830 am. About a 10 min wait.

1) The Old Metry MILF Game was STRONG in there this morning. Several coming home from their Spin Class.

2) I had a glaze do-nut, sausage and cheese kolache, and ham and cheese kolache (Yeah, I'm fluffy, lol)

3) The glaze do-nut was very warm and soft, the batch had just came out. Very good. Not a huge do-nut.

The thing I liked about Shipley's - from my Katy days - is the variety of do-nuts they have, but I didn't get any other ones today. Next time.

4) A Shipley's kolache is middle of the road in Houston. However, without a lot to choose from here in NOLA, I think it's very much the best you will find. I find them a little too doughy, but again, we don't have a lot of options here.

Shipley's kolaches are mediocre. I've had worse, I've had better. Their donuts are quite good though.

Are they seriously better than bakers dozen?. I hardly ever eat donuts, but bakers dozen glazed donuts and apple fritters are probably my favorite. Have Shipley’s on every corner here in Houston but never stopped in.

I've never heard of/been to a Bakers Dozen, so I can't answer that.

Just had Shipley's. I prefer Baker's Dozen for glazed. Shipley's was super heavy and I thought overused vanilla in the glaze. Not a bad don't at all, but not the same I prefer for a simple glazed. Also their donuts are much heavier than BD. But donut holes and the blueberry cake donuts are definitely better at Shipley's. Also their iced coffee was very good. I enjoyed the sausage and cheese kolache I had. Whoever said Kolache Kitchen in BR is better, I don't agree.

Very glad to have them in the neighborhood.

Do they have the strawberry and cherry iced? Those are my favorite.

Shipley’s is pretty solid for a chain donut place. Their donuts and specialties are pretty consistent. As far as kolaches go, their big earl Campbell sausage with jalapeño and cheese is prettty damn good for the price, but of course there are bettter options, but you will pay more for these.
