Bout to be a lot of pretentious fricks in here.

How is it pretentious to not go to buffets? Do you leave food out for hours at home and then eat it? Do you eat so much that you need to make multiple trips?

And seafood sitting out for long periods of time? Sick. I don't even eat seafood I brought home that sat in the car too long.

It's not, but that's not what some here do. They do stuff like:

Not sure you or R2R will ever get it.

I "get it" but I think some of you just want to call someone pretentious. God forbid someone doesn't like something. They must be a stuck up snob.

A little pretentiousness is needed on a food board. As I've said before, I don't post here to read about easy Mac and buffets. Go to any website with food being the hobby and you'll find that a bit of pretentiousness is needed to keep it from becoming Kraft.com

Yeah, we poke fun at buffets here, but the OP deserves an honest answer. Not everything on Nagoya's buffet is at peak quality, but there are some good items there, enough to have me as a return customer. They have my favorite frog legs in the city, and with crab legs and decent sized cold and hot shrimp, it's a deal for under twenty bucks. I don't touch the sushi there though.

Jesus last time I got the buffet and paid full price at the casino it cost 32 per person after tax. Plus most people probably lose at least another 100 at the casino..

$164 dollars for dinner makes you poor?

The boiled crawfish at Lauberge are very good. They cook a new batch every couple of minutes too. Do you have a crawfish boil and only eat one batch or do you grab some from more than one batch? Is that any different?

That's quite a leap. Gambling has nothing to do with buying the buffet. No one spends $164 on a regular casino buffet for two people. If you're going to lump things together, why not add the cost of the room?

$464 for dinner makes you poor?

How about green fees?

My point was that you are not typically going to go there to just eat. So if opting between say Louisiana Lagniappe or hitting the casino buffet the casino buffet is going to cost you more in the end despite the price being slightly less.

Still $64 for dinner without tip isnt exactly cheap for BR.

And FWIW people that claim that buffets do not belong on culinary discussion boards ARE def being pretentious.

Hell the Bacchanal Buffet in Vegas serves food on par or better than any restaurant I have been to in BR. They have chefs that worked in Michelin starred restaurants as well.

Now this is BR so its different but for boiled crawfish Lauberge did produce a product that was as good as any restaurant I have had it here.

I am quite aware of the buffet at LAuberge considering I was on the opening crew of the damn the place

Had the buffet several times before opening when we were training. Most of us girls got poopoo sick..
I remember it tasting okay. Still.. I can get a much better meal elsewhere for less money. In general, most people don't need a 2nd helping at a normal restaurant.

Regardless, when I hear seafood buffet, I think LaFleur's type shite.. fried stuff on a buffet. That's what I honestly thought he meant.

Im only talking about the boiled crawfish only there. Since he was looking for seafood. Their dungeon crab claws I dont care for. When I paid for that buffet crawfish was going for 3.99 a pound to pick up 10 pounds bring home and then have to clean up the mess not including drinks and corn and potato sure made the 32 pp seem a lot more reasonable. I went in expecting the worse and got crawfish that was actually very good.

The regular buffer is ok.. Its better than most casino buffets around here but still a buffet.

Bacchanal Buffet is worthy of any food blog talk though.

Is that the one at Caesar's? I've heard it's outstanding. Didn't do any buffets in Vegas.. mainly because it was a fast-paced trip.

Yes its the new buffet they opened last October. Its simular to Wicked Spoon at the Cosmo in that they do a lot of individual servings dishes instead of the dig in and grab something ideal. Seems to be the next step in buffets as I ate at Harrahs in New Orleans and noticed they had started to do a bit of that.

I generally will eat a casino buffet because its easy to do when you are alone on a business trip. Its that or sit at the bar at a restaurant where its hit or miss if they offer a full menu.

This contradicts your claim to get it. No one cares if you don't like something. It's that you care if someone likes something you think they should not like.

This is objectively false. That's just your warped idea of a food board.

Sounds like a personal problem. It's a food board-not a gourmet only food board. No one is forcing you to read these threads, yet you show up in just about every one of them. So no, you really don't get it.

Right. I'm the ONLY person on the food board who doesn't like a buffet. Of course not. I am just the one you picked out (other than r2r)

In fact, I responded to people being called pretentious.. Not even to the OP because I have no buffet advice to offer. Maybe instead of calling people pretentious, you can follow your own advice and give the great buffet list to the guy.

The entire first page is people hating on buffets. But oh.. It's a personal problem that only I have..

I consider the food at most wedding receptions and cocktail parties to be buffets. I went to a brunch yesterday in someone's home that was served buffet style. Food was delicious and it had been in the chafers for a while. Some buffets can be quality and some are not. Just depends on the food and how it's kept and how often it's refreshed. We always put food out buffet style for parties.

I haven't had a buffet in BR that I can think of. Haven't heard of a seafood buffet, but if there's a good one, I'd like to know. I love tasting a little of everything when it's good.
